I think he got off easy. Hanging or any other means of capital punishment is exactly what he was probably looking for.
As someone else said he probably had loads of intelligence that the world could have used. I'm sure he had knowledge on nuclear funding, chemical weapons, terrorists, and god knows what else. Now that hes dead that information will never be available to use from his POV.
On another note, letting him hang means he did not have to spend life in a maximum security prison, and behind those walls he would have received the punishment he deserved. He would have been raped, torutured, and left to rot for the rest of his life. He would have had to have truley suffered for probably another 30-40 years, instead he was given the means of a quick exit, a free ride out of prison, and in some peoples eyes died a martyr.
His death will no doubt spur more unwanted acts of violence and hate from the people that respected him so.
Maybe death via capital punishment wasn't the answer, but a death that is slow and agonizing might have suited him better.
All in all the man is gone and now we will never know what would have been the better route. May god or whomever you call your higher power/spiritual being have mercy on the Iraqi people. (It's just too bad Bush wasn't on the gallows with Saddam.)

well, you can't execute someone that is 70 or older...Dakine wrote:He was 69, i wouldnt expect him to last a decade in prison. let alone 30-40 years.
