Nostalgia is REALLY painful (long read)
yeah, so, i'm 15 and i have 2 brothers, one who's 16 and one who's 19 and in college. basically the problem is recently i've been thinking alot about the past, times when my mom and dad were happy people and everything seemed ok and the family was really close, now my 16-year old brother basically hates the shit out of my mom, curses her out every day and shit. my 19-year old brother obviously is in college. my dad is worried all the time, workin way too hard stressed out sleepin all the time. my mom is emotionally unstable, she goes in and out of depression and is angry all the time. they both smoke cigarettes and have for a long time which scares me because of the possibility of cancer. they're having trouble paying bills and i'm gonna get a job as soon as i can to help out but right now i feel like there's nothing i can do. i try to mediate between my brother and my mom but i just end up fightin my bro anyways so that doesn't solve much. i try to talk to my mom once in awhile to keep her happy but it's always the same old thing every day. i try to do chores in the house, keep shit stable but i can't handle it all for much longer. basically i just need a way to cope with this and maybe some tips on solving some of these problems. my life outside the family is horrible, my grades are droppin in school, i'm always startin shit with people and gettin in fights, gettin a little too into the drug scene and i owe alot of people, just alot of shit...any ideas?

You're an incredible teenager. "I'm going to get a job to help out" and "I do chores for a good reason" are not two things you would have heard come out of my mouth at 15. Your parents are really very lucky to have such an emotionally intelligent kid. From your post I can tell that you really care about your family members, and you have respect for your parents even though you're all going through hard times.
The best thing you can do about the cigarettes is to be a non smoker.
As far as your parents running behind on household bills, that certainly is stressful. I can see why you want to get a job. At least being able to pay for yourself, your own consumption is a good thing to be able to do - coz you're ever closer to being an adult anyway. Once you have earning power, you can help the ones you owe the most - your parents. A minor who pays rent is awesome. I commend you for seeing your parents stressed out and wanting to earn money to help them. I know the feeling. So I guess your primary concern should be finding the highest paying job you can get. I'm not sure where you live atm but here 15 is the minumum age for most entry level jobs. My first job was in a burger joint, at the very least you can do that. If you have a marketable skill or can get into a place (busboy/dishwasher in a restaurant, server, anything like that) maybe you can make more than minumum wage to help your family. You can also pay back your drug debts.
One last word of advice... find solace and pride in picking up your grades. It feels good to go from failing to earning high marks. Wait until a new term for a new start if you must, but make the change in your scholastic pattern if you have it in you at all. You'll really appreciate it when you're older and it might help you feel better now.
Good luck man, I know you can do it.

listen to caro...she knows wat shes talkin bout. That sux man, i'd also quit drugs for a lil bit and try as hard as u can to get them on the patch or the gum shit, thats another way to asve money, cigs are like 7 bucks around here a pack, thats like taking off a hour or a lil more on a minimum wage job per pack. try to get a meeting together...i know that sounds cosby and goody goody shit but u never know, u might be able to make ur parents realize that smokin is killin them, make ur bros realize that mom aint so bad, and ask them to start contributing a lil bit of money, maybe if u lead they will follow.

whatever you do, stick to pot and dont do nothing else!
about your school grades, if the school your at knows your issues involving the family you could get councelling and that would prolly help you raise your grades to a level that is good enough to get u thru
make friends that you can see alot when you go out and stuff, friends ara capital part in any teens life , you need people that know who you are and what you stand for and can talk with you about anything
dont remember that were here, so whatever's on your mind just spit it out right here, dont worry about getting laughed at , ok?

Computer games don't affect kids. I mean, if Pac-Man had affected us as kids, we would all be running around darkened rooms, munching magic pills, and listening to repetitive electronic music.

I went through the same stuff not that long ago. We had no money, we were always fighting, they caught me with weed (which was very stressful to them), I crashed our car driving 130 km/h into a ditch (was drunk) and was very lucky I didn't get hurt (we don't have a car right now).
Everything is ok in my house for about 2-3 months now. The situation was like this for about a year.
The best thing you can do is to do good at school. Trust me, the bills, the money or anything like that is not a problem to your parents compared to how you're doing. If you're getting into fights, and doing bad at school it's much greater problem for them then money. In reality, you can't make nearly as much money as they can (you're only 15), but you can do good at school and make them feel good, motivated and confident. Talk to your 19 year-old brother and tell him to talk to your 16 year-old brother and your parents, the oldest siblings have much more influence then the youngest.
Sorry to hear you have to deal with this at your age. Good luck, I hope everything works out.

Keep talkin to your mom, maybe talk to your brother if you havent tried it yet. Once in a while take a short Vacation, its always good to recharge your Batteries.
You are as you are the way you are because you are, and chage will come when and if it should. So relax, stop worring about the unforseen, and live life.
