Lucy in the sky finally confirmed to be about LSD

Post by tokin_dyke »

Lucy in the sky with diamonds (by the Beatles for any of you who don't know) was confirmed to be about LSD by Paul McCartney. The song was written by John Lennon and they have always tried to cover their asses by saying that is was about a drawing that John's son brought home from school one day, they even show the drawing in the book A Hard Day's Write which explains the story behind every song.
Paul said that Day Tripper was also about LSD and that "Got to get you into my life" is about your friend and mine, Mary Jane.
just thought i'd share ! :D

lucy in the sky with diamonds is one of my favourite beatles songs. i thought it was a bit of a coincidense about the picture his son drew, although i have seen it. tom's right about the video, download it if you can- 'tis very trippy. apparently "let it be" is about weed, paul says its about his mum though & after the first post i'm not gonna trust a beatle again!

When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

i think this passage could refer to the effects weed has on songwriting, just my opininion though.

yeah ... i know what you mean, although I personnally dont think let it be is about weed, think what you want friend because it just might be, like you said it's kinda hard to trust them now lol. There is a shitload of their songs that i suspect are about drugs. Like, probly at least 75% heh. They have a lot of songs that are the result of an LSD trip other than Lucy in the sky, too. Ah, the Beatles!

I'm pretty sure that tokin dyke understands the first letter of each noun spells LSD. She's just saying that a Beatle has confirmed it even though people suspected. I know its unlikely but it could've been a coinsidence and until somone who would actually knows the origins of the song said otherwise. I just downloaded the Day Trippper video with an into of Paul McCartney talking about acid, 'tis quality.
