Yeah ive seen them both. Personally I was disappointed by tool, but APC blew me away. My friend managed to get an interview with Maynard Keenan for his website as well, and apparently he chain-smoked spliffs throughout the interview

hell yeah maynard's cool as hell. lyrical genius. i went to apc show few months ago. and now they're coming to my town in april. got tickets the day they went on sale. the first gig was amazing...josh freese is sick as hell on drums. and i think i'm taking a girl i l(ove)ike...3 libras is one of her favorite songs! what a better way to ask out a girl when that song's playing. nothing more beautiful than starting the set with vanishing, incorporating 3 libras, magdalena, the hollow, and the noose, and ending with judith. i'm so excited. and wish me luck. ps tool dvd is coming out kinda soon, and howerdel himself said tool's in the making of their next album.
