How long is each stage generally for an indoor plant?

And is about 2 1/2 feet enough space? I can always force flowering if necessary or prune or whatever so yeah...

Do you mean the veg and flowering stages? If so, from seed youd probably have to give the plant 4-8 weeks to reach maturity. Youll start to see alternating nodes around this time.

Once you see these alternating you can take clones and/or start to flower. Flowering stages depend upon the strain you are growing. Indicas have shorter flowering times than sativas. Some indicas can be ready in 45 days where as some sativas can take up to 18 weeks.
