i work in my own special way,
i dont physically labour all day.

some think im lazy, some think i just talk,
but i do a lot more than just sell fish and pork.

i get paid for my time but its not nearly enough,
the wage compared with the cost of life here comes out pretty rough.

so when i see those that labour their day away,
i dont really care if they turn round and say,
'you slacker, all you do is stand around.'
as i know its just cos their spring is too tightly wound.

why do a job that you really dont enjoy?
40 hours of your week you instantly destroy,
of course money matters but more important is your time,
to sell it off too cheaply is a savage crime.

i havent the hunger,
to be a fishmonger,
for the rest of my life.

maybe ill try to teach,
cos kids i think i could reach,
and live happily in bliss with my wife.
