i have a problem. from what my art teacher tells me there is no such thing as light. the color white is actually a combination of every primary and secondary color, and when white light is shined through a prizem it breaks up the light. when all of the colors are recombined it creates black. however when black is disassembled there is nothing

Yeah, white light is made up of all the light in the visible spectrum, plus some infra red, Ultra violet etc.
Black is the absence of light so not really anything to do with light at all.

Yeah that part of what you said was wrong, there is light. It is a type of energy, and it moves in waves. The part you got right is the different waves of the spectrum creating different colors to see.

The weird thing is, we don't see green because its green, we see green because it absorbs all light but blue and yellow in a certain combination (that being true for like desks and trees and whatnot... computer monitors and TVs we see green because it actually sends out blue and yellow).

white is a mixture of every colour
white light, is reflected of things
when it is black, it is because all colours are being absorbed
blue - blue reflected, everything absorbed
there is such thing as light, as yourn teacher contradicted - light is the reflection of every colour in the spectrum reflected at once

thats basicly it, maybe a bad explanation but if you can make sense of it, tis all there

Actually light is any of it... its a type of energy. Not just white light.

Light is a type of energy yes..

The way we usually see light, (white light) is a combination of all the colours of the rainbow, to put it simply

Make a colour wheel or the colours, Red, green, Blue, etc etc etc violet orange and whatnot, i forget what they are now, and then spin this colour wheel on a pencil or somit... you will see a perfectly (or near perfect) white circle...
