Why is my PC constantly whirring???

When I run Windows 7, my PC is constantly whirring...why??? and is there a remedy???

are you on a laptop, or desktop? it might just be that your computer is getting really hot so the fans are having to work hard. So open her up and clean out the fans and you should be good to go. maybe

After some investigation I found a few programs running in the background which I had put in place during a recent virus scare. With these disabled the whirring has gone...I used hi-jack this, to check my processes. A very useful utility.

well that would reduce the workload of your computer. Do you know what part of your computer was whirring? because I still think it might have been the fans trying to cool down an overheating computer.
