if the universe (everything we know exists) is expanding at 80 km/sec/Mpc (statistical error = 17 km/sec/Mpc),what is it expanding into?curious to hear peoples thoughts

I could definitely look it up and give a better answer than this but from what I remember hearing, there are other universes out there other than ours. The Big Bang which in turn created our universe was actually two universes colliding into each other.... It's kind of like bubbles under water. When two small bubbles collide, they combine to create a bigger one. In between the bubbles is of course water. So while I can't exactly explain what the hell else is out there, directly outside our universe (because it's obviously not water)... I wouldn't necessarily say the answer is "nothing"... Let's just hope our universe doesn't collide with another one any time soon!

I think when it expands, it just fill up the void spaces and if the void spaces are part of the universe then that's horrible to my brain to think of.
