I went to see the immortals yesterday with a couple of friends and we all agreed that it's a pretty good film. It has been compared to 300 by some, but don't expect that much from it as 300 was fucking brilliant and actually followed with mythology, regardless of how accurate it was. The immortals follows no story of Greek mythology to my knowledge, but there's some sick battles, some beautiful ladies and philosophy galore. Some of the CGI is brilliant and the scenery which is set is absolutely beautiful, especially mount Olympus. I've never seen a depiction of it before. The strange thin is that Zeus carries a hammer, which is really, really fucking silly.
This film gets my stamp of approval, but its not yet the perfect film.

Re: The Immortals
I will watch it...as for 300, that followed History more than mythology, rather loosely, but not too loosely enough to make the film seem totally fabricated. The politics in Sparta at the time were complex, and there were at least another 1500 alongside the 300 spartans. However, the general gist of the story appears chillingly and also amazingly accurate. Well worth reminding the people of today of how we used to be. I mean...how often do you find people showing true valour, true bravery, true honour in the western world of today??? I love the ancient realms, and surely have some past there, soul wise, or more likely blood line wise. If you loved that film, you MUST read Gates of Fire, and also Spartan by Valerio Manifredi. Both are brilliant books. The former is far more detailed. Cheers for the review...
