Re: Soil ph moisture and lighting
I haven't got a clue what the light meter part of it is....whatever it is you don't need it lol
The moisture meter is for measuring the amount of moisture in the soil. If you check the soil with your fingers you can only go down a couple of inches. It's more important to know how moist the soil is in the middle and bottom of the pot..that's what the probe is for. You can stick it in at different depths to check.
On your meter it's the bar in the middle. The red being dry, the blue being wet and the green in between. After a watering it should be in the blue . Then wait until the meter reads maybe around 2 or 3 until you water again. You want the plant to almost dry out, but not quite. You don't want it so dry that it's wilting and the soil is pulling back from the edges of the pot. You'll have to gauge it a bit yourself...if it's looking to dry when it reads 4 then by all means water it...or at 3 it might not be dry enough either. Maybe you need to wait till it's at 2 or 1 even. You have to get to know your meter a bit...they all have different accuracy
Since you have a small seedling in a large pot it is important for you to make sure the soil is not staying to wet in the lower part of the pot. It needs to dry out a bit between waterings and not be constantly soggy. Otherwise you will have problems with root rot and lack of oxygen to the roots.
After awhile you'll get to know how thirsty your plants are by feeling the weight of the pot. If it's heavy it's wet..if it's light it's dry. Takes a bit of getting used too...make it a point to lift the pot after a watering to get to know it's weight when wet and dry. It'll become second nature after awhile, regardless of the pot size
The ph is the bottom bar.
For marijuana grown in soil you want it to read between 6.0 and 7.0
Those meters aren't very accurate though...
I used one for a few weeks and chucked it for a ph test kit for aquariums that you get at the pet shop. With that you measure the ph in the run off water. You put water in a test tube then add a drop of solution. The water changes color and you compare it to the color chart they gave you and the matching colors tells you the ph. You can also get the ph up and down there. There are also ph strips that change color...not sure where you get those...maybe the pharmacy I guess

I've never bothered much with ph but then again I tend to grow the easier less finicky strains like Northern Lights for example.
