Relationships.

Post by weedguru_waffles »

Here's a question that came to mind from a conversation I had tonight...

Does a bad relationship change the way one might see a relationship following said relationship...by what I mean is, you might see a person you might not normally be interested in diferently because of A)sour or bitter feelings...or B) being treated well compared to being treated poorly. By this, could you potentially miss out on the person you should be with because someone treats you well?

...just a question on my mind.

The short answer to this would be a resounding, "Yes".

The long answer would probably crash the site due to the sheer number of characters needed to input to explain the complexities of relationships.

You learn from experience, so yeah having a bad relationship once will influence the way one handles the next... Might be more cautious, or might be able to take the pain better ... Depends on the person.

^Nah, this seems like a chick thing...... I don't go out looking for relationships, nor do I even go out looking for female company in particular for any reason.

For me, relationships start for one reason; myself and the other, more than likely, female party like each other. Unfortunately, physical beauty can sometimes act as a sort of catalytic placebo for the beginning of a relationship thought to be based on character. Therefore, My relationships just tend to fizzle out slowly until they finally go *poof*.

Although, to be fair, I've never been in a relationship that has ended with residual resentment or bitterness. But I really can't imagine a scenario where I'd actually become interested in a girl because I was bitter at another girl or wanted to be treated better than I was by my previous girlfriend... To me, that sounds like insanity. Although it could very well be because I've never been in an extremely long term, committed relationship. Who knows...

i dont really believe there is "one" - so missing out on "the one you are meant to be with" is a invalid argument to me.

However, i do agree with the idea of past relationships tainting new relationships. In both positive and negative ways.

yeah that's a contradiction there:p

But you do become more careful after having a bad relationship, maybe that's a positive taint,no rushing in to get hurt etc...

My first point, waffles, is that employing the idea of destiny, even in solely a romantic sense, gives rise to a very separate question of 'are their sould mates?' and also 'are there people we are supposed to be with?'. Aside from that...I feel people get what they want, more than what they need. For those honest folks, who are inordinately self aware, they will get also what they need. But for the many, they will get what they consciously want.

What we need and what we want are more commonly different, at war, diametrically opposed, than blissfully married. But in a basic answer to your question...Obviously, YES, effects of relationships affect how we are in our next relationships. Everything shapes us, nothing more potently than emotive involvements.

I wouldn't do it either but as Toonces would say, it's not that bad, when YOU REALLY THINK ABOUT IT. I mean, I'm assuming that if you've been in a relationship for a long time with someone, you've pretty much explored every inch of the other individual's mouth. It is kind of nasty though . *Scrub* *scrub* *scrub*.....*Ponder*..... "Mmmm chicken with tzatziki sauce".
I saw on TV today, this man lost his son, his son died...
So he had him cremated, took his ashes, and then made it into a Diamond ring...
Now he watches his son shine every day.
I just thought about that, while I sit here ashing in this ashtray...

I has a hungree.

I guess I really can't think of a logical reason why sharing a toothbrush with a person you make out with all the time should be particularly revolting... But then, I'm not a toothbrushologist.... Or a dentist... I'll definitely be asking my dentist about this the next time I make a visit.
