I've never viewed myself as a part of any type of 'crowd'. I suppose back in high school, I was a 'headbanger' because I wore a leather jacket, had long hair, wore tight jeans and hi-top basketball sneakers. Tho', I didn't hang out with just 'metalheads' back then, either. I hung around with losers, jocks, a few preppy people, goths, a handfull of rappers, two skinheads, and a couple stoners.

Now, I just wear what I feel like...which is usually jeans, t shirts, and sneakers.

This may sound very extremely arrogant,pompous and narcissistic, but all my life i've looked at how people,groups of people change their behavior and style around eachother, and I've always had this feeling that I was on the outskirts of this heap of likeminded drones, looking at the big picture.


And sure, I wear skateshoes and have my brands,but I don't actively seek to look like others, I just do my thing and observe.

But I feel the same way about those Keffiyeh. Its fucking hot out and people will still be wearing them. Its not like its at all original anymore either, EVERYBODY WEARS THEM ! My ex and an old friend of mine (who were way too much into fashion) would wear one almost all the time, and I would always make fun of them. They think their being so trendy when in fact its been beaten to death now that everyone is wearing one.

Yeah, i've never been apart of any group either. I wear what I want when I want.
PS. Skater shoes are the best (DC in particular haha) They are just so comfy. I think half of my shoes are dc. (unless they are heels lol)

These are in general good people. You know the people I can't stand? The people who judge people based on what they wear, call them names like degenerate swine and demand that they be slaughtered.

They're all individual people with individual personalities. If you were judged by the brands you wear you would be a "skater" or "stoner" or "fratty" or "preppy" or some other loaded term. What you wear and what you listen to is all based on what you've been exposed to, it's so easy to see yourself as different and outside the world around you, but we're all products of the corporate matrix.

Being a hipster makes perfect sense from an existentialist point of view. "Clinging to anything that feels real" I wont go into it.....

I live just a few blocks from hipster central in my city. I don't like most of them, I don't like their style, music, or the way they smell. But I have a couple of "hipster" friends who are great people. A bit odd usually, but cool nonetheless.

If people want to spend loads of money on the fashion they basically created that's on them. I'll stick with my skater shoes, tshirts and jeans. I don't hate hipters..dislike would be a better word. I usually make fun of them, with their brightly colored skinny jeans *vomits*

At a party a while ago an old friend called me scene which enraged me. Yeah I have gauges but only because I like the way they look. I happen to find gauges sexy.

It's like how half of us here seem to wear skater shoes. No one's really original, unless you make your own clothes from scratch, we all get it from the same corporate machine. People don't wake up one day and decide "hmm I'm gonna become a hipster." They just have a taste for a certain style they've been sold, reflect a moment and realize that whatever your style is, it's not something you've created it's something that was sold to you. When you start thinking you're above certain people and different than the rest, you need to check your ego cause it's getting a little inflated.

One of my friends is a "hipster" as in he dresses hipster and smokes Parliaments and Lucky Strikes, but when you actually get to know him he's just as unique as anyone who isn't a hipster. And I've known him a long time, before he really had that style, and his personality really hasn't changed. The style just fits him. It doesn't come with an attitude.

I don't think you can really compare us all wearing comfortable shoes to a bunch of mindless drones all dressing the same. I mean exactly the same... without an ounce of originality. Yeah we buy brands but we don't buy brands because they are shoved in our faces.

Not to mention all the hipsters I've encountered are rich snobs, who just buy the trends so they can feel like they are better than everyone else.

It's TV and the entertainment culture that breed these type of stupid people. I'm seriously beginning to think that it's weed that makes people see clearly about day to day activities. I've always really thought that but up untill recently I kind of forgot about it. If you look at the people on here who smoke weed, they seem to know their shit about life, i.e. "the herd" etc. And most of these "herd" don't smoke weed and even see it as a bad thing and it's all because of their indoctrination from the tv/peers and general "popular" enter-fucking-tain-fucking-ment.
