Hey Canadians!
So I know there have been similar posts in the past, but........
So my wife and I are seriously considering moving to Canada. I'm doing other research too, but I want to hear about it from some real people.
First off, health care. How exactly does it work? I heard that sometimes people have to wait for a long time to get seen by doctors and such. I need to know because my gal needs good medical care.
^ thats the most important question. Other than that, would people accept us? I mean since were American would people not like us? I'm not sure how it works were you live, but I've thought about becoming a Canadian citizen. Either that or just stay an American and just live there. Any suggestions?
anyway... Thanks in advance

You pay taxes which in turn enables you to have free health care. OHIP covers some surgery's as well. Sometimes it does take a lil long to get an appt with a doctor (for like a check-up) or something, but usually just a month or two at most. Atleast where i live in mississauga which is a pretty big city. As for wait time for surgery's i dont really know since i havnt had one lately.
And its not that canadians hate americans, they just dont like bush (which i think most ppl dont, american or canadian) But if your coming to live in canada dont worry about ppl hating you at all, I'd take it as you'd rather live in canada than america which i'd take as a compliment. I really wouldnt think anyone would be mean to you or prejudice just cause your american.
hope to see you up here soon

You know, just be a normal chill dude and all should be right. But you're already on this weed forum so.. , I guess that makes you so. ' bout the healthcare, I don't know how long it would take to get a card. Just don't go to Quebec, no doctor except few locals want to keep these jobs so it take more than a month to get an appt. especially when you have no folder anywhere.

Alright, I have a couple more specific questions...
Another thing I forgot to mention in my orig. post was that I need to move to an english speaking area. I don't speak any french at all, so I need to avoid any french-canadian cities. I would most likely be moving to Manitoba. I want to find a small town to live somewhere nearby Winnipeg. If anyone on this forum is from around there you could pm me and we could discuss places in further detail.
In fact any good info on Manitoba and the winnipeg area would be appreciated. That includes marijuana info too (I still need to find bud lol).
Anyway I really appreciate you guys helping me out!

quebec the only place u wanna avoid if u dont want to learn french
as for Winnipeg, its not really my fav city if u know what i mean
its kinda boring place to live in (no offence to winnipegers but u gotta admit im right)
id sugest living like 15min away from vancouver in a suburb area that i dont know the name of
but my dad's friend lives in that place and he told me that when he go to vancouver city it rains
like crazy and once he past the bridge and arrive to that suburb place its all sunny and shit
(i saying that so u dont have to worry about the rain factor of vancouver)

I know a few nationalities that people tend to 'hate' (hates' too strong a word) when they're not in their own country.Ikku wrote:I wouldn't hate on a Canadian for acting....Canadian.
Like:
germans
French people (though they're relatively calm)
Italians on a drinking binge
English lewd people :p
Americans (generally for acting as if America's better in every way, which it's not)

Well yeah haha, you know what I mean.Mr Skunky wrote:flow, generalising my countries people as "lewd" is slightly overdoing itthere are many cretins in my country, and sadly, they are the ones that are most likely to go on holiday to where you live and they WILL drink too much on holiday.
English chav bastards on a drinking spree just having big mouths and making a lot of fuzz ... I love UK people
actually, there isn't really any nationality (or race) that I dislike or hate.
I mean, of course there are nations with which I'll never agree (us for example) but it's not like I hate all americans for living in the country they happen to live in.
I do hate Americans that support the war, bush, their over the top patriotism and nationalism, and I hate Israel for being bitches to the Palestines.
But I don't hate jews just because the Israeli government is such a slutty thing.
