I had a thought while sitting here stoned...what if comets really are signal flares from a distant planet in distress...such as under war or dying...just a thought...lol

Thats a cool thought. Like some crappy civilzation that can only launch boulders into space as signal flares for when their in trouble.

Too damn stupid compared to what? Other earthly animals? lol, as far as we know we could be the smartest damn things in the universe. Or we could be nothing more than cosmic bacteria.

As for the comets, I don't really care what they are or why they exist but they're totally awesome?

Why would it be bad if we were the smartest? That would be so elite and awesome feeling if we could know for sure we were the smartest (which we can't).

Because if we are the smartest thing there is and WE can't even manage to keep our planet healthy, there doesn't seem like much hope for the rest of them

I think, if a civilisation were launching large rocks into space as a type of signalling, they could not have found the technology to find other planets with life-forms. Unless, of course, the comet was launched after a massive war that left the planet in ruin. Nucleur fallout. I think their planet and their civilisation is done for. We should ignore their signal and just get on with our lives. There's nothing we could've done.

We should learn from the creatures of Second Earth. Let's not destroy our own planet, leaving just rocks to be thrown into space as a desperate cry for help.
