Hey, this is my first time buying pipes, and I need to get two of them (one for me, one for my bro). I was just wondering what the best type would be. I have a debit card, so I was thinking of buying them from everyonedoesit.com. The choices there are overwhelming. I have no clue what chillums, bubblers, etc. are. I do know basics like carbs, bongs, hookahs, etc. I'm just wondering if anyone's willing to help me out. I'm hoping to keep it below 25 each, but I can go to 30. The only things are that I need to find them online (I live in the US, btw), and they need to be small. I'm still in high school, so I have to stash my blunts and stuff in my PC case (I would love a bong, but they're way too big for me right now).

generally the names basically are just there to distinguish different shapes of pipes... or what they do... etc...
chillums- the longer it is the cooler the smoke is
sherlock- obvious
inside out- as above
peanut.. the size of it...
etc etc
there really isnt a "best type"... its whatever you like the look of and can afford!

quick rundown of pipes, that i kno of anyway:
Calabash: my faverote, often mistaken for a sherlock pipe, but it isnt, it was only used by actors because it was easy to hold in mouth n use both hands, this has that dip shape, like a 'U' often favoured for its more mature smoke due to the smokin chamber below the bowl, often made of wood, but other materials are used
Briar: this is a basic pipe design, corncob and meersham both fall under this category of pipe, and is the most common form of pipe. decorations can be used, with widely varying materials used (this is actualy the True sherlock pipe, but it is difficult to hold in the mouth without aid of the hand at times... actors found it unfavourable to use it while acting the role of sherlock holmes)
Chillum: a straight pipe, have to smoke it verticaly, usualy by cuppin the bottom with ur hands, and usin ur hands as like an extension of a pipe, some people cannot do this tho and will just knock their head back to toke it, it has also been known as a joint/blunt holder
Bong: do i really need to say? like a pipe, but the downfunnel is in water, so that smoke is drawn through it, cooling and also removing some impurities along the way, very nice hit, comes in many many varying sizes, shapes, colours, whateva, bongs can look so different from each other
Hookah: i find they are like bongs with more than one end pipe to toke from, some people will put water in them, others do not, often smoked with a tobacco substance, along with burning charcoals, etc, myself i will just smoke weed on its own in one, but others will argue this is not the correct way (heck, it works, it gets me stoned, i dont care haha) a hookah is usualy distinguished from a bong by the verticle downpipe (instead of the usualy diagonal one of a bong) and that the bowl is usualy at the top of it, with the pipe reaching down to the bottom into the chamber, with/without water (while a bong, the bowl is found to the side of the bong, downpipe reachin into a chambre with water)
now we're onto the fun contraptions
Lung/Bucket: both are the same concept of smoking, just using different means, basicaly, most are done with a 2l bottle or something, lung, you use a bag, cut the bottom from the bottle, attatch the bag to the bottom... u then push the bag all the way into the bottle... attatch a bowl to the mouth peice at the top of the bottle, fill the bowl, light, and pull the bag down, the bag leaving the space inside the bottle creates a vacuum which draws air into the bottle (throu the mouth peice, which is covered by a bowl with burnin weed) so smoke is drawn into the bottle, with a bucket, u just dont use a bag, use a kitchin sink/bucket filled with water, and lift/lower it to different heights in the water (since the bottom is cut off, water gets into the bottle... when its low, the water practicaly fills the bottle, when u lift it, the water will drop, makin a vacuum, again pullin air into the vacuum - or in this case, smoke - careful not to lift it out of the water tho, it will loose vacuum, n u cud loose most of the smoke)
there are also waterfalls, i havnt used these myself, but they are similar to a bucket, except u just use a small hole at the bottom, fill it up, holding this little hole, apply the bowl, light, and let go of the hole, the falling water will create a vacuum in the bottle and smoke will b drawn in....
ok i am gettin bored... if i forgot any, ye can add to it, or u can just tell me n i will add it, i included most areas here, some may argue being as i pushed a couple of them together to make it shorter (but thats cos pipe/bowl designs are so basic, u cant give one a whole other class by its shape) nowa days, there are so many varied designs for pipes, like loads, so u may aswell just pick one u like the look of n u kno u can toke from (basicaly saying if ur not one who can do the chillum thing, dont get a chillum, lol... i wudnt suggest a chillum for ur first pipe either) anyway, my rant is officialy over now *knackered*
