Dreadlocks
ive wanted to get dreads for a hell of a long time, i was wondering if anyone here is sporting em. (since Mary Jane and dreads go hand in hand) i was wonderin in you could post a pic, and share some of your experiences, how you got em, how easy they are to maintain and just some general info.
i found this but i donno if its worth buying
http://www.dreadheadhq.com/
i know thats not the exact link, but if you go to products then dread kits, its the full kit a little bit down the page.
thanks

that takes years, and make you lose all your friends. teh reason behind that is if someone with african american hair doesnt comb it or wash it itll dread in like 2 weeks. white people take about 2-3 years depending on hair type, besides thedreads wont be even , tehyll be different sizes and theyll be lumpy

I've had dreadlocks for about a year now. theyre completely natural and just kinda slowly took over my head starting around xmas last year. altho contrary to popular belief Ive always washed my hair atleast twice a week, but i have very thick hair that got harder to comb as it got longer, so it started to dread. i was talking to my old hairdresser (its been about 4 years since my last actual haircut) and he said that shampoo actually makes your hair more likely to dread, as it opens up the folicles and means hair can lock together easily. i dunno tho, it was a while ago.
Id say that i find my dreads pretty easy to maintain. altho they take fucking ages to dry. I don't actually have any pics at the moment, as pretty much everything i own thats electronic is fucked. i'll try at some point tho.
oh also as far as race is concerned, i was born in england, my mum is english and my dad is indian and my dreads took a few months to form completely.

It's true. Shampooing will open up the folicles and make it very easy to tangle...but if you want dreads, skip the conditioner. It smooths your hair out and closes said folicleshe said that shampoo actually makes your hair more likely to dread, as it opens up the folicles and means hair can lock together easily. i dunno tho, it was a while ago.
On the other hand I've never been really fond of white guys with dreads....
but I can tolerate it...(Jacksparrowjacksparrowjacksparrow) if they've got darker hair..but blonde dreads freak me out :O
