black/woman president
In the history of the US we have never had a black or female president, not even as a vice president. I started thinking the first step should be placing one as vice president to build up some cred so that they can have a chance at runnning for presidency, but still nothing.
so my question to you which will happen first?female president or black president?

Their are so many racist ppl in this world also, Im not even sure what half
of the ppl would do if there was a black president.. They would probably get assasinated..

One day Oprah will be be president...
In all reality I think it's possible for a black or woman president, but probably not any time soon.

that scare me. not to be antifemenist but many woman i know agree that a woman wouldnt make a good president(thats not to be said about all woman) due to their hormonal cycles. While there are plenty of intelligent black men that would make a damn good president(i.e.dave chapele
)
just goes to show that the woman's rights movement is alot further ahead that it is for blacks.

Ah for one that's what I get for not reading the post right.
I think it may be a toss up. There is still a lot of issues between women and race. But I think chances are a bit higher for a woman than another race.

interesting question doc.
I think the main problem that needs to be examined first is the apathy of the people, towards the politicians.
This is widespread and the biggest problem really with everyone who sees the system for what it is, is athe dis-affection(noy sure if tha right word that ensues with knowledge/lack of knowledge. i mean if you know a fair amount about the reality of the government, there is a tendency to try get away from it, to avoid it, to try extricate as much of yourself from the system they control as possible.
Inversley, due to the silly amount of poor people, like real poor people, uneducated with nothing really, that exist inlarge pockets all around the US, people dont have ACCESS to knowledge about politicis, so it becomes a force so far away and so far removed from normal day 2 day life that people forget that their lives are shit partly/lots due to the government.
anyway these problems i think are more intense in the black community of the US (tho applicable to all levels/groups/ages of society, in a reduced amount). Mainly the second problem of dissafetcion caused by lack of knowledge and lack of ne feeling of a connection with the white house. the reasons for this, i am not going to go into (unless someone takes offence i any way from what ive written, then i will explain more), but the slavery issue is inescapable, as our the problems still existing because of the old horrific black/white relationship in the US (all over the wolrd, really, in history i suppose).
anyway i elbaorate if asked on that...
so i would say that the black community is less likely to be geared up towards a career in politicis.
MArtin Luther King and Malcom X, are the only two names that spring to my mind as contemporary black leaders/poerfurl figure heads for any kind of politically inclined movements in the US. tho i must concede, that my US history isnt great (and id be pleased for any corections/additions to my history knowledge), so maybe immaking mistakes.
The hispanic and the black community would be on equal chances of prioducing a president i would estimate.
dam, doc, youre question has given rise to so many other topics of debate that I am confusing even myself.
just a side note to mention tha i think condoleeza rice is the devil in disguise, or someone close to the devil, if the devil exists that is. im not 100 % on that one yet.
I liked Colin Powell, he seemed to speak with integrity, and any more explanation vis-a-vis his resignation would be apprecaited...
