Anti-Glory Fans

Post by Midnight Toker »

I was speaking to a friend of mine the other day. We've both supported Chelsea for a long time, have been to games together, but the other day we're talking and he tells me he no longer supports Chelsea, he now supports the team at which he was in the youth academy, Crystal Palace. When asked why, he told me that since Chelsea came into all this money that it was boring, because now we're just gonna win everything for years to come.

I fail to see the logic in this. Surely this is what every football fan has every wanted? Every fan supporting a struggling club wishes a billionaire would swoop in and plunge money into the club to try and make the the greatest team ever. I have been in your position, supporting a fringe club on the verge of bankruptcy, and i know that's what i wanted to happen. And now that it has, during the best time to be a Chelsea supporter ever, where we are in a position for global dominance, NOW is a boring time to be a Chelsea fan? This is everything a die-hard fan could wish for, and this is a waste of time to him?

Some people are weird.

I think it is boring, even if Arsenal came into all the money Chelsea did, it would still be boring. They should earn that money rather than just have it given to them. If Chelsea want a player then theyve basically got them because no other team can compete financially. Like I said, they should earn that money rather than just have it given to them.

Jealousy is a bitch  Having a ton of money doesn't necessarily mean you have a good team, just look at Real Madrid. A bunch of egos thrown together. Chelsea has some of the world's best players, and they play as a team rather than a bunch of stuck up Beckham types.

Its not jealousy, I would be saying the same thing if it was Arsenal. Chelsea also wouldnt have Mourinho if they didnt have the money.

So? In terms of sheer individual talent, Chelsea is not much better than Arsenal or Man U, in fact I rate Arsenal higher in terms of individual talent. Most Chelsea players weren't even considered 'world class' before they played for Chelsea. Drogba, Essien, Gudjohnsson, Carvalho, Duff etc. gained world fame whilst playing for Chelsea. The only supserstars brought to Chelsea are Crespo and Makelele if you ask me. The rest were all very good players, and Mourinho shaped them into a team of world class players.

And I never said money doesn't help, but it's by far not the only factor, something most people seem to fail to understand.

They wouldnt have those players if it wasnt for the money. They were going in to Administration. Drogba was known before he went to Chelsea, Essien was wanted by many clubs but none could compete Financially. Duff was known and could have gone to any other team but Chelsea had the money, much like most of their team. I agree Mourinho has made them in a World Class side but if it wasnt for the money, they would still be coming in 5th-6th every season.

I have found myself defending Chelsea with annoying regularity since AbramaVich swooped in to inject the $$ into the Stamford Bridge coffers. I am not a Chelsea fan though I do like Mourinho and the team he has assembled(and the way the combine as one; manager, players, performance). Money doesn't win matches and titles, managers combined with players win matches and titles.
ANyone who has researched Mourinho's career will know that he has always been an unnaturally gifted manager. He cares for nothing but how his team is performing. He reacts to adversity with typical latin passion but rarely crudeness or insolence which can be witnessed every hour at Old Trafford when Alex Ferguson is on the premises...
"Hey Doc, you have been with us for ten years. A good servant to this club, to the tradition of Manchester United. You are going to tell the press that Rooney is injured and that he isn't healing as well as we had hoped....Okay Buddy?' says the big scotsman, whilst patting the wily, erudite physician so hard on his back that a cough is forced from his dry tight lips..
"No boss. I am English more than I am Manchester United, so fuck off with your games" replies the Doc..
Ferguson pulls a baseball bat from his trousers then smashes the doctors valuable mind out of it's brain casing, spilling blood and cerebral membrane all over the CLub Medical Examination Room's pristine dove white floor.....
Later that day....
"Hey boss, umm....we found the Doc, he is...um...doesn't look well, boss....in fact..umm...I am not sue if there is even any point callin' the ambulance folk....cos...he has gone......blood..lots of it.." says the young clerk who discovered the remains.
"Pull yourself 2getha you soppy suthern pansy mother fucker. Just issue a press statement along the lines of CLUB DOCTOR SACKED AFTER ARGUMENT WITH BAT...no ARGUMENT WITH OWNER....that should so the trick....as for his bits and pieces, feed them to my bloodhounds, they are shackled to a post in my backgarden..here are the key's. I want you to go feed them.bucko...and be careful. those bastards haven't eaten for 2 years!Good luck"......ferguson replies, then rings the club chef to organise poison for Rooneys dinner, nothing longlasting, just enough to stop him making the world cup.....

Chelsea have agreat manager and an increasingly exciting bunch of players. Manchester had a perid of domination, now it is Chelsea's turn, though I suspect, this 'term' may last for a century, or at least until Russia get into any major wars.

Mourinho is the most talented manager on the planet.
