editing video clips

hey people, anyone know of a program which lets you edit video clips?
like i got some video clips of laird hamilton surfing(im not big surfing fan but this man is special) and i want to try take the best scenes otu of each clip and put themm 2getha in some kinda order in a new video clip.

neone got any prgrams to download which willl let me easily rip segments of a video clip out (i think they all .avi's, maybe one or two mpegs) and then re-arrange parts into one new collection f best bits???

any help appreciated as ever

hiya,

you could use Windows Movie Maker. Lets you cut out pieces of movies, you can insert pics in it, add music & use effects. Pretty basic, but its good. I got it with Win XP, & can find it under Programs.

cheers mate im in moviemaker now having some fun. i also wanna m,ake some short clips on my ladies digital camera then add some audio by using soundforge to record then i could insert an audio track to go with a edited video clip????
