Question about US citizen in amsterdam

I was reading that thing about that guy smuggling weed to amsterdam and someone said that the us cant get you out of trouble for breaking another country's laws. But was wondering that if you went somewhere such as Amsterdam where it is legal and came back to the US, could they really do anything for breaking a US law in another counrty where its legal?

No they cant, If you are in another country you abide by their rules. But if you broke a law and went over to Holland they would extradite you.
