Trippy Light Captured in Significant Photos - ???
Looking at this sequence of pictures and something has been intriguing me for awhile. These pictures were taken shortly after my brother's death, when his friends (some of whom were with him the day he died) took me to the scene of his cliff jumping accident. In most of the pictures, the sunlight seems to be caught in some.... strange patterns. Don't you think? Some of them positively give me chills. I want to believe that the camera captured some distortion of energy, and I want to believe it was caused by his presence, or maybe a sign. That we live after death. Anybody know anything about optics?

That is very interesting... there is a distortion in every one of those photos.weedguru caro wrote:--This picture is taken frm the completely opposite angle, yet the shell shape of light persists!!!

Like you said before, lensflare, nothing more nothing less.Weedguru Funk Doctor wrote:Forgive for being the insensitive non-believing twit again, but if you look at the pics, the distortions are always aligned with the rays of sunlight.
Might be specs of dust caught on the outer lens, but they'd give sphereshaped distortions, not shell like ones
Computer games don't affect kids. I mean, if Pac-Man had affected us as kids, we would all be running around darkened rooms, munching magic pills, and listening to repetitive electronic music.

It's a fairly interesting read. Funny how I've always just accepted flares as just being there, and only when someone asks for an explanation do I realise I know nothing about themAll but the simplest cameras contain lenses which are actually comprised of several "lens elements." Lens flare is caused by non-image light which does not pass (refract) directly along its intended path, but instead reflects internally on lens elements any number of times (back and forth) before finally reaching the film or digital sensor.
