cloning

Post by newbiecracka »

im just wondering if anyone has had good results and cloned some good stuff ... im having loads of trouble cloning some big bud (im just about to shove some clipping's up somebody's asshole and see if they grow) ive only cloned twice out of 10 clippings and then i smoked the 8 clipping that died and i got a bad fucking headache ( i was already stoned by some buds) ... i hate fucking big bid now its not even worth anything ... but ive been cutting the clones of the momma and keeping in water for 2mins then cutting them sideways to the stem ... then i dipped them in olivias cloning gel and put them in a mix of perlite and peat moss 50-50 in those pool filters suspended over a bubbler ... then i put clear cups over top of them and i put a heating pad on the bottom of the bubbler ... they just wouldnt root and i fucking hate them

has anyone used olivias cloning gel .... or is it just big bud ... or both?
if there are 3 apples and you take 2 how many do you have?

Cloning takes a little getting used to , its normal that u screw up at first.

First of all, you must take clones from a plant in a vegetative state, not flowering. I always clip from the bottom half or bottom third of the plant. The only real point to doing this is that it helps thin the plant out, so it gets more light under there.

Always cut with a sharp exacto knife or a big fat old fashined razor blade.

Those are sold in any hardware store, usually in the paint department.Use new ones, not cruddy old dirty ones.

The cut must be done diagonally, not straight across.

You gotta get a rooting solution from a hydroponic store..just ask for it. Follow the directions..some have to be diluted some don't and check for the time it should be in the solution.

Then place the clones in a rooting tray with rockwool cubes. You must wet the rockwool sponges first. Get rooting trays that come with a clear dome cover.

Ideally you should put them in a small room, like closet so it is easier to keep them warm. Put them under fluroescent lights. (I have also done it with HPS, but watch them, they dry out quicker) You need to keep the light on 24hrs a day, and it should take about 2 or 3 weeks for them to root.

Always do more clippings than you want because the usually don't all survive. I still have some die after many years of doing it.

You want to keep them moist and fresh, so spray them every day. I use a regular spray bottle for gardening. If some die, take them out right away. Keep them spaced apart, cramming them won't do them any good.

There are many other ways to do it, but this was the simplest way for me and gave good results after you know what u are doing.

Great cloning directions. This should be made into a file of "directions" with some of the other data which can be made a sticky and put and kept at the top. Id keep sections on lights, nutrients, hydroponics vs. dirt, cloning, and maybe "growing stage vs. budding stage" all up there. If you follow these directions on how to clone you will not have any problems aside from those inherent in cloning.
I guess the only thing I would make sure to emphasize in these directions is the need to turn down the lighting. Dont expose your babies to your 400w MH bulb. Use low output normal full spectrum (sunlight ie 6700k) bulbs in a dual tube flourscent setup. Balance the need to watch tthem daily with the desire to fuck with them if you dont have to - more plants die from over-attention than under I think.

Oh, with the rockwool, be sure to soak it first in a ph solution. rockwool has a naturally base (opposite of acidic) ph, so you need to adjust for that from the start. - I think rockwool is great for cuttings and seeding and clone medium, here is some info from concept420.com on preparing rockwool.

Rockwool's disadvantages are relatively few. It is alkaline PH, so you must use something in the nutrient solution to make it acidic (5.5) so that it brings the rockwool down from 7.7, to 6.5 (vinegar works great.) And it is irritating to the skin when dry, but is not a problem when wet. To pre-treat rockwool for planting, soak it in a solution of fish emulsion, trace mineral solution and phosphoresic acid (PH Down) for 24 hours, then rinse.

This will decrease the need for PH worries later on.
