First attempt

I just planted 2 already-germinated seeds yesterday ( i germinated them with the paper towel method). The little white root things were already about 2 cm long, and i wasnt sure which way to place them, with the white thing going up or down. i kinda put em in sideways. Today i went down there and got them out of the soil and put them right back in. Not really sure why i did this, i guess i just wanted to see if they had gotten any longer... it looked like they had, but it might have just been my imagination.
Could i have screwed up my seeds by desoiling them, even if it was only for a few seconds?
Also, about how long until the stem breaks through the soil?

And if anyone cares, here is my setup. I have like a 50 gallon fish tank, and 2 pots of soil. I placed the pots on a plastic box so that they would be within 2 inches of the lights. For my lights, i have 2 20 watt flourescent bulbs. I seriously doubt that i will get any results, because i don't really know what i'm doing... I would be happy if they grew at all, even if i got hardly any good buds. Once i've got my own place, and have a little more experience, then i will probably buy some quality seeds, and go for the good plants.

You are supposed to plant the "litle white parts" down in the soil. And i wouldn't suggest digging them up that much becasue it effects the way that it grows. If you dont know what you are doing i would suggest reading a growing guide or going out and buying one. But as for the free ones there are a couple on this site or you could search google.com or alltheweb.com and get results or if your going to just buy a book

the bottom two website are free sry i cant think of anymore at the moment but regular marijuana is basically a weed and as long as it has the essential of light water heat and soil it will basically grow anywhere.

you could also just go down to your local libary and pick up a few gardening books hope that help man

Small update-
One of the plants has sprouted up nicely, and is about 2" tall. it looks like it has 4 little leaves already. I think the other one is not doing so good... the stem is like curvy, and it doesnt stand up straight. Hopefully i will have pics soon.

When should I start fertilizing?

im in exactly the same situation mate and i couldnt give a shit if its goosd weed or not just as long as it grows, first time and its about 6 inches tall looking good i have 2 same poweres lights that you have that were previously used for snakes. i'll try and get a picture up for yas

Sweet man, here's to hoping that we both have success.
I made a weak mix of fertilizer today (1/2 teaspoon of miracle grow 15-25-15 to a gallon of water) which i will be using every day to water the plants with. I also added some powder that i used to put in my aquarium. it takes out all the chlorine, and other impurities in tap water, and it also sets the PH to 7. Its really amazing how fast the plant is growing. I can definitely see a difference in size every day. I think I will start the flowering process a bit sooner than most people, simply because im doing it more for the thrill, and less for the weed itself (did i really just say that?).
hopefully will have pics tomorrow... anyone know a good free site to host photos?

I wouldn't suggest watering the plant every day. The soil should not be dry but yet it shouldnt be wet if that makes sense. You should water it maybe once every two days and it the plant itself looks a lil droopy it may not be because it doesnt have enough water but too much water. but if you are worried about it drying from too lil water just spay it with water from a hairspaying bottle. I was also wondering what kind of "powder" you added to the water. Get those pics up i want to see this platn.

forgot to say that i added the powder to my watering can, and let it dissolve. i will get a picture of the powder container as well.
