What light are you using? What medium are you using? What ferts do you think youll be using? What space do you have to grow in? etc...etc...etc...
Personally (even for a beginner) i would recommend a 400W HPS lamp. 250's are ok but you really need to keep your plants short for the light to penetrate deep enough and youll get 'airy' buds. With a 400 youll get some decent sized buds and wont have to keep your plant all that small. Youll also need a contactor as the lamp on its own will burn out a timer and then you will be in real trouble as you are at risk of burning your house down. With a lamp this size youll need an extractor fan. A 4" one will do the job but a 5" will do it so much better. If you can try and vent out of your chimney. Also youll need an oscillating fan, this will help to strengthen your plants, circulate air and discourage pests from making a home in your room (this is probably going to be the single most noisy thing in your room). Flying pests dont like it windy!! Fly traps are a bonus too. Youll probably not need them but they are a good indication of whether you have an infestation. Any more questions... Just ask...
