Neil Young! Greatest song writer of all time and a damn fine guitarist too. Rust Never Sleeps and After the Goldrush are two of my favourites.
And Jeff Buckley, Grace and Mystery White Boy are awesome (and the rest).
Radiohead
And the Meat Puppets, not really like Cold Play but they do some really excellent soft rocky kind of stuff crossed with a country feel.
