Gotta love christmas dinners, i was at my aunts for xmas dinner, along with the rest of the family (except my uncles family, who were someplace else) any case, i was stoned off my head and everyone new it, i munched hardcore. then when i got home i got more stoned, then went to a mates, and got even more stoned. it was wonderful

Damn man, I get that every day EXCEPT the holidays. FUCK I hate Christmas when I have to get up at 6 am to drive into town to open stockings where all I get is soap and socks and shit.

So you write code at your house to make your living. how many hours a day, in general, do you spend on that? and where do you get your projects? how do you get your name out there to refer people to you enough to pay for your expenses?

Well you start off doing lots of work for little pay at huge outsourcing companies that take a percentage of the profit such as www.rentacoder.com or www.scriptlance.com. After you have done some work, try to get your name out to those in power, sending applications for contract work, etc.

I actually got the main jobs I'm doing right now from a gaming clan member. I am being paid $25 USD / hour. I get projects via e-mail (also communicate via MSN Messenger), with the outline and the payable hours. I do the project whenever I choose within the designated time frame, and submit it to him for approval. He approves it, pays me via Paypal.

On average projects are about 8-10 hours. I get 3-5 a month, and yeah I know thats not many, but when you are moving up from doing 10+ rentacoder jobs for less money, 3-5 projects for $250 a piece is pretty damn good. Also $250 US becomes about $325 Cdn, which mean one project pays my rent.

yea i make better money doing projects for people i meet or whatever than that rentacoder crap so i never do that. but i guess i should. i do similar projects/money but cant count on them steadily each month. also, thats just not enough to cut it for rent where i live. i should seriously move up to BC and live with you, tarent, fuck your roommate who doesnt want you to smoke weed, we could hotbox and code and chill all day.
