how do you smoke a bong properly?

plz help me im a novice pothead and have only been smokin da weed through a hash pipe, so how the hell do ya smoke da bong properly and why is it better or not as good to hav a shottie i mean who would wanna waste all that good smoke by putting a hole in the bottle to make it go out?

Well mate your supposed to keep your thumb or finger on the hole so you can pull all the smoke up and then once the cone has been thouroughly pulled let go of the hole so all the smoke in the chamber hits you like a tonne of bricks, good luck mate, Keep Smoking

Then is there any point in having the hole, if you gotta keep your finger on it? I'm a novice too so don't mind me asking

the hole is so that you can pull all the weed smoke through the chamber and when it has been sucked through into the chamber then take your finger off the shotty, then you will get all the smoke quicker because it is pulling air through as well, which should make it less harsh as well. the shotgun on a pipe or a bong can always help you cherry the weed if you know how.. its easy
