I can't wait now that you brought this to my attention.

Welcome back Bubbs, glad the move went well. Same part of the country or somewhere else?

Rats in the house...eating through floorboards, stealing the hounds food, running amok left, right and centre.

Wood pigeons, cats, possums...he will chase with ferocity and snarls. As for the damn rats, even when one came in the kitchen and went straight for hus bowl the ace predator flew outside and started stalking around the perimeter. I suspect the massive amount of peppermint oil (natural anti rodent/spider remedy) has disoriented his snout...its potent enough to affect human eyes in the area. Worth a try eh!

Peppermint is strong stuff for sure. If it disorients a canine, it has got to have some effect on rodents, as their noses are quite sensitive as well.

The key to it, I believe, is to give them a good reason not to invade your perimeter.

I've recently been assisting a friend in combating a Flea infestation. The little bastards were already current residents when he moved into his new apartment, So it's been quite the battle to drive them from the carpets and various other clever hiding places.

As I mentioned, the whole idea is to convince them to want to leave.

wise words, Ryan...I think the filthy state of the kitchen floor had much to do with the problem. That, added to the hole the fuckers ate through in the wooden boards under the sink, giving them free access from under/outside the house INTO the kitchen. I was away for nearly four months and whilst the house I lease and my hound, pretty much remain OK after my absence, the house was worse than I had ever seen it before when I arrived back a week ago. The toilet was foul, the kitchen floor covered with food scraps and spilled liquid residue...horrible. really fkin horrible. Just as well my savage queen was not with me. She would have turned around and headed straight to her mother's place.

As you say...I have demanded/encouraged/suggested that everyone washes their dishes the same night they use them and any scraps on the floor, clean them up sharply. The only food I want out on the floor at any time, is Oscar's dog bowl. Even that I am now covering up and placing high up on the counter now.

The pest control fiend stuck baits in the holes and under the house yesterday and was confident that would kill all the critters within 72 hours. After that its just a case of having that hole repaired for its not just the rats I worry about. More the killer spiders to be fair...speaking of which, ive already come across a mouse spider hiding in the handle of my spade in the garden and also a white tail in the toilet since getting home. Also, the mosquitoes here seem 10 times as big as their pesky counterparts in SE Asia and Sri Lanka. Its a minefield of insects and vermin which needs burning out really...

the problem with rats is that they're fierce warriors, ready to battle to their deaths. Not much fun for a pooch most likely interested in chasing, not fighting.

I've heard those Aussie spiders are some mean motherfuckers, not to be fucked with or taken lightly... As for giant man-eating mosquitoes, they come out in swarms here in Texas. On some days, come sunset, you quite literally have to run for cover, flailing your arms around like a loonatic, or be eaten alive. Luckily though, I've not had to contend with rats or deadly spiders living in this area. When I was living in the desert of New Mexico, there were rats, and the tarantulas, snakes, buzzards and coyotes would snack on them regularly, so they would hide in/under the house.. Often causing those hairy beasts, the tarantulas, to follow. But I've never had an aversion to them despite their intimidating presence, knowing that the worst they usually ever do is attack your shoes while you're walking by if it deems them a threat to its territory/nest, which is a comical event to witness, at the least. And if one ever did manage to land a bite (which is highly unlikely), their venom is practically harmless to any creature as large as ourselves...

But anyhow, best of luck on your insect/rodent battles! I have no doubt the Dan & Oscar team will emerge victorious!

Just remember. No chemical warfare, or you might find your adversaries armed with US weaponry.

ahhhh, sugar! you can;t help but add fuel to my fire! One of the major problems with the US government presently is that they are more than likely directly responsible for the very chemical attack which they are now using as a reason to use more missiles and line the pockets of the military industrial complex which helps to run their foreign and domestic policy.

The most darkly amusing report I have read was of the russian foreign minister saying something along the lines of...why don't they present their evidence to the UN security council? And why did the US government not care when the last UN reports of chemical attacks in Syria fingered the rebels as the perpetrators??

Why indeed...still, i remain at least partly content that despite the sterling efforts of David Cameron and William Hague, too many MPs in England voted against the eagerness to attack, for the first time in many moons actually representing, to a small degree, the opinions of their constituents. massive progress in terms of removing ourselves as a loyal sheep dog of the Shite House cadre.

In other news, I returned to work this morning, brutally hungover, hugging my hound and heavily despondent in all ways. It had been 3.5 months since I last donned grey shirt and black trousers and I was/ still am dreading the changes to my position which are due to become reality...however, i was greeted with a large amount of firm handshakes, hugs and kisses all day. Ended up feeling far warmer and happier than expected.

Now that it's been voted off the cards twice it makes it especially more interesting to follow. Just to see if Cameron makes the same mistake as Blair did and to intervene regardless of opinions.

Even still, it'll be interesting to hear of after, as i still reckon Britain may still have a little sneaky helping hand behind closed doors, as the same sort of thing has happened before with the likes of Egypt etc. I just have a feeling that they'll still provide arms or something.

It'll also be interesting now that France and the U.S are still up for it, once the whole helping your allies situation arises, which will more than likely happen as Russia's been constantly flexing its muscles at every hint of intervention.

Was just wondering as well as i wrote this... Do you reckon your stance on intervention would change if the UN confirmed chemical use, rather than going on the word of the Americans?

I have as much trust and respect in the UN, which is mainly funded by the US and rarely, if ever, has a bad word to say about the US, even when there are votes to stop israeli stealing more land, and everyone but Israel and the US votes against a statement that would criticize and outlaw Zionist expansion policies.

I have no idea of what 'muscles' you speak of. Which Russia has been flexing...they have never mentioned any support of any military action, they have not threatened with attack, nor have they failed to speak out in reasonable terms when others are speaking nonsense. The US, UK and France have consistently mentioned and threatened with attack...which is factual, not conjecture, And yet you mention russia flexing its muscles.

Russia are a country, whose power, at least in comparison the the power of the english ruling forces, can be horridly revealed by looking back not so long ago at the sorry demise of Litvenenko. What kind of country could send in two agents, into another land, a land which supposes itself still a global power, and then proceed to poison to kill, in brutal ways, an enemy...leaving a trail of their nuclear warpath...the english then demanding extradition, and yet...one of the agents was promoted into parliament. Does that tell you Russia is crooked and evil and never to be trusted, or does it simply say...russia are more powerful than england. Than the US??? economically, without doubt. But the chinaman, whilst owning the US economy, needs to sell to its largest market, the US economy...Would you call the Litvenenko extermination 'flexing its muscles'???? To my understanding, Russia have their own interests in Syria. Do they believe that Assad is a blood thirsty maniac?? NO. If the russiane-quipped port in Syria, which can home Russian nuclear submarines, the only place that can do so in the middle east, was a defining issue, it would be very very simple for the US, UK, France, Saudis, Qatar, Jordan, UAE... to offer the safe-keeping of the port to Russia. Some business agreements are in place.. weapons and some non warfare infrastructure...nowhere near enough to make russia worry.

What does this lead to??? Very clearly, Russia have not a huge amount to lose, which they couldnt protect, or offset financially. Maybe they are sniggering in some way, and saying for fucks sake, look what you did in iraq, afghanistan....two wars awfully lost, one of those countries destroyed back to the dark ages after being a shining light for health care and education in the region UNDER SADDAM HUSSEIN. Look at what you did in Libya, Egypt...STOP IT. STOP INVADING COUNTRIES FOR NO GOOD REASON AT ALL.

there is the issue of Iran. Of the shia connection. Of Hizbollah's involvement. Yet equally so, is the absolute madness of saudi princes, heads of their intelligence agency, meeting Putin and basically telling him that he controls the muslim groups in chechyna, and if Putin plays ball, he will make sure the olympic games in russia are safe from attack...from these rebels he controls. Putin was disgusted. Its not news which will make any western front pages or back pages. But still it happened...
http://voiceofrussia.com/2013_08_29/Ban ... tack-2596/ or peek for Bandar threatens Putin. Its also the flow of energy supplies throughout the region. And the designs of AIPAC.

I am sidetracked.

Russia won't flex their muscle. They will continue to engage in legal business deals with Syria, show their own opinion when asked, and especially in the UN security council, probably speak a lot of sense.

Nobody seemed to care when the UN investigators talked of rebels using chemical weapons several times before. What difference could it make for the opposite report to be heard...? Yet I stick by the same explanation as Assad gave two days ago. There is no basic logic to assuming first and foremost that a country leader, battling a civil war, would invite into his country chemical weapon inspectors, then launch a chemical attack on its own people the very next day, knowing full well that to use chemical weapons is the red line for the Us president to authorize an overt military response. Look at who could gain from such an episode...Could Assad gain anything at all??? He was winning the war, the rebels were in decline, something drastic needed to happen for the rebels, not assad. Could the rebels gain anything??? hugely...I am sticking with logic, until any proof suggests a different story. And we have no proof, other than declarations of war from the same sociopaths who told us saddam hussein had weapons of mass destruction, who took us into afghanistan and beyond...blah blah blah...proven liars should be met as proven liars, not as a global power for moral good.

Puts me in mind of a Sinn Fein slogan..... "Spoil your vote"........ Cus it didn't matter who you voted for here (being a nationalist) cus no one was going to represent you anyways (albeit with abstentionism an all that).
