Re: The Random Topic
Adjusting to the humidity of Bangkok whilst trying to rid my flesh of a nasty throat infection I seem to have collected en-route from the UK.
I like it here, the frenzy, cheap street food, apparent equality between the sexes...shame, in a way, we are leaving in two days, but I suspect Cambodia and Vietcong will prove worth our time.

Happy fourth of July everyone! The day symbolizes the event in history where we told the Brits to go stick it up their asses.
Cheers.

Just returned from a 430am - 1230pm tuk-tuk day trip through the Angkor Wat ruins. Pretty impressive, decent guide but now I must eat and find a beer, also some time in the pool. Cheekily, I managed to loosen a tiny rock from one of the ancient pillars...also, the main drinks vendor outside the main temple had a large sign that said WELCOME TO BONG'S KITCHEN!...

Re: The Random Topic
Last night here in Quy Nhon and I will be truly fucking happy to escape this place which promised so much, but has delivered so very little. This is always a potential problem when traveling without much of a plan other than a general direction of North, and picking up ideas of where to head next from others we meet en route...Sometimes real gems in the rough can be uncovered, but equally possible is to travel hard and horrible, toil and suffer on wooden benches squeezed between boxes and monkey faced natives hellbent on cuddling up to you to make use of the meat on your bones as cushions for their skeletal physiques, then finding the secret, secluded beach actually riddled with shark problems and filth....to cap it off, communication has been near to impossible, resulting in a 2km walk for any edible food I can be close to sure isn't dog, croc or snail. Tomorrow we leave, but have the receptionists understood the incredible importance of my request in google translated vietnamese for a taxi at 8am to the train station 10km away. Taxi>Train>Taxi and then...hopefully we reach the sanctuary of hoi an, a beautiful double bedroom and western toilet next to a patio and swimming pool all set in the middle of a botanical garden, with free bicycles to use and a lavish breakfast served daily...Its (hopefully) worth the suffering of these last 72 hours for the paradise that awaits us in Hoi An...

After begrudgingly leaving the wicked cocoon found at east surf cabanas in arugam bay, we have arrived in unawatuna, where the weather seems fine, the high tide too high to walk the beach at dusk, food still devil spicy and wholesome, bus drivers mental...ten more nights of Sri Lanka then back to my melbourne lair after three and a half months away.

Sounds like an excellent time. I wish I could go on a trip for that long. This winter ill be in the Caribbean for a month and. Travelled through Canada to Alaska anr back once qnd that was about a month, but 3.5 months would be amazing. Some pictures once you're back in Australia?

Yes, mate...of course. I'll be putting together some writing and mainly photo diary routine soon after I get back to Melbourne. I have given myself a period of one week to re-adjust and re-set my internal clock and senses but as the time to head back draws closer and closer on the horizon I am filled with an increasingly desperate desire to make the most of every day away...Hope you are fine and dandy, and I will also get around to that forum alteration soon!. Finally...
