I've been waiting for Animal's rant about Juventus after they lost 0-2 to Bayern München.

I missed that one, and real as well
Computer games don't affect kids. I mean, if Pac-Man had affected us as kids, we would all be running around darkened rooms, munching magic pills, and listening to repetitive electronic music.

I find it amusing that you Europeans follow soccer or, excuse me, "football" with such exuberance. Nobody here gives a flying fish net about soccer save the occasional Mexican...

I find it amusing that Baseball is considered a sport in the US, because I've seen it, and it's excruciatingly boring. And the fact that they actually postpone games because of some rain? lulz.

Re: The Random Topic
Welcome Kappapinna, I hope you'll find the info you need on the boards!
Well pkkupo, I don't really see much in seeing a bunch of tall guys chasing a meat-colored ball only to drop it in a cirkle. Nor does the concept of a bunch of fairies in body armor touching each other up mean much to me, but like with football (real football, not american football) I don't really follow it save for the World Cup or the Champion's League and even then I only watch if I happen to be with mates/at a bar and the game is on.
I will never go out of my way to buy tickets to a game nor will I ever invest in dumbass shit like buying your team's shirts, that's just laughable.

Re: The Random Topic
The most widely supported sports are Football, Tennis and then Cricket, in descending order. The 3.5 billion, who follow football are far from anywhere near in their majority solely European. Aside from the domestic, european and continental league and cup competitions, the most recent world cup was watched by 3.2 billion people. Just one game. Such a connecting force between the peoples of the world is not mirrored elsewhere, sporting wise or other wise. I have been in odd places in the world, and found common ground with foreigners who have nothing of my language other than a few pieces of football...to mention, in just a word or two, a name or two, with smiles all round when the connection blossoms...a bus stop in egypt, with all arabs, other than one black chap, who was as welcome into the arab group around the bonfire in a bin and shared cups of local moonshine, as myself. No chance of english meeting his tongue, but...Cantona...and Shearer...and Van Basten...these words alone were enough to connect, with mutual warmth and a sense of solidarity which could be forthcoming in no other way. I found the same with the street urchins around the pyramids at Giza...the same in Malaysia...Thailand...Spain...France. Its an institution, near a religion, to many millions...for good or ill. A luminary of the realm such as Pele...carjacked on the streets of his native Rio, Brazil. and as the assailants were collecting valuables, one of them realized it was Pele, returned the goods, lay down, and bowed, prostrated themselves, apologized. For to those folk, the brazilians, and many others the world over, Pele is a demi-god. And why not eh???? He brought huge pleasure, excitement, poetry, to millions and millions of people. When their team is embarking upon a world cup campaign, Brazil generally comes to a standstill 3 hours before kick off for each game, to allow everyone the chance to find a TV and watch, enjoy, suffer, glory in, support...the battle.pkkupo wrote:I find it amusing that you Europeans follow soccer or, excuse me, "football" with such exuberance. Yes...I am aware, that very few in the US give a 'flying fish' about such a thing. its only the most fluent language on the planet after-all. It doesn't surprise me, for its a perhaps well grounded reputation, of the US, that it doesn't give a 'flying fish' about much in the world, other than its own interests...as your post goes a little way to confirm.

Lol. I was just joking around, fellas. I like soccer. I just think our nations general differences in competitive/athletic interests are interesting. Still, hockey ftw.

I like hockey, it has everything save for an actual ball.

Re: The Random Topic
Four days before my savage Queen leaves the country, the hemisphere, my always wanton embrace...Still, she is merely achieving a head-start on me. For I will hunt her down on the 17th of May, in the capital of my homeland of England. I think the last time I was there was 2008. Cannot be sure. The trip is set to move along the following lines...
Melbourne>London>Kent>Paris>Brussels>Brighton>Kent>Morocco>Cadiz>Seville>Barcelona>London>Kent>Bangkok>Cambodia>Vietnam>Laos>Thailand>Melbourne.
Seems like a colorful use of 110 days of my life.

Re: The Random Topic
Its a hectic schedule we have lined up, Higher...and I am more excited as the date of departure approaches. My one and only concern is how much of a heavy heart I will carry around me due to the separation from my dear hell-hound, Oscar. Well done on your 10 year anniversary, I doff my virtual beret and smoke a small J in your honour, in the garden, in between finishing off the gorgeous smelling roast beef on the rib I am cooking as a farewell roast for my savage queen, who departs on Wednesday, leaving just me and the hound to drown our sorrows in vodka and ether.
