Re: English Hiphop
Far more in depth than Australian hip-hop, had longer days. I'm half English. I myself, sadly, can't get into English hip-hop any songs so i won't show any.

Re: English Hiphop
English hip hop has grown so much better as time has passed, much the opposite of American hip hop.

Leaf Dog - When I bust
Dog's barks are best morphed into an instrument of noise, but the beats...possibly the finest piece of hip hop production, purely on the sound, I have ever heard rise from the shores of my homeland, England. Who produced this?????

Re: English Hiphop

Re: English Hiphop
No he's not, he sucks. Some of his beats are decent, but his lyrics, flow and image are sub-par, far sub-par. N-dubz are a disgrace to music in general. The best scene in british music right now has got to be grime. Such technical wordplay and rhythm. Check out Kano, Ghetto, Wretch 32, Devlin, Lowkey etc. all amazing.

I've never heard of Tini tempah nor N-dubz...but will check them both out...sugarstalker wrote:so what's your opinion of more mainstream rappers, like Tinie tempah, and... uhm.. N-dubz(I think that's what they're called) and.. those are the two I can think off at the top of my head
As for Tini...I have forced my way through Pass Out, which is horrendous. I prefer to listen to Leafdog, even though he represents a section of English society I despise, he clearly has talent, and is connected to some people who can make some brilliant beats...sometimes outstanding beats. Tinie Tempah is not only lacking any semblance of talent, he is ridiculous, but not quite as ridiculous as N-dubz...did you suggest them intentionally as a joke of sorts, sugar??? I wouldn't put such a thing past you, you sly old dog! N-dubz appears more a parody of everything awful
about commerical hiphop. What kind of damaged, pointless souls would pay money for such tripe??

Re: English Hiphop
Hola Fire, I checked out Kano and Devlin, both of whom seemed instantly superior to Tini and N-dubz, but nonetheless only slightly more appealing to my ears. I already know Lowkey from a while back, always liked him...like with most emcees/musical artists, for me, they need either a wicked personality, colourful character, magnificently vital spirit, or a cause they are fighting with all their heart and soul. ideally they will have both...Lowkey fights for causes I can relate to and feel the same way inclined towards, in heart and mind.

You're right bro..tini tempah lacks that, he swaggers for the ladies, which is weak. Whereas lowkey is smart and deep for what he raps about.

Lazy Habits - Bulletin
Easily and instantly one of the finest pieces of hiphop art I have seen emerge from England for many months, years even...

Hmmm, yes I suppose it was a sort of joke, in as much as I knew you'd hate it. But I did honestly want to see your opinion on them.
Considering the stunning musicianship that has emerged from the british isles during the history of time, it's hard to see how "artists" like N-dubz and Tinie Tempah et al. can actually find someone willing to produce and distribute...

Re: English Hiphop
^ I completely agree.
Yo Dan, I must say I've not listened to any of the tunes you've posted up in here, but i shall. I can only imagine (from knowledge gained in our conversations long ago) that they are full of passion, fire and venom and very like to be full of very deep thoughts and feelings toward politics and society, with the occasional twisted absurdity or two. I like your musical taste, always have. Other good artists to check out are Foreign Beggars and Durrty Goodz. I imagine you've heard the former and would appreciate them over the latter.
I've recently been much more adventurous with the music i've been listening to. Lots of old rock, blues, jazz etc. A while ago it was strictly hip hop and heavy fuckin' metal.
Get at me on facebook some time man, it'd be cool to catch up.
