So after having lived for a few months here in California, I have grown accustomed to hearing people, whether it be on television or in person refer to marijuana as being their medicine. Some people say it jokingly, but then there are those who truly mean it. With the vast number of medical cards and dispensaries in the area, it seems as though it has been engraved into the culture here to use marijuana in medical terms. So with that being said, I was wondering if anyone on here could claim that they truthfully use marijuana to medicate themselves for any reason at all?
I have been smoking fairly regularly since 2006. The first time I ever toked up was in 2001 or 2002 but I smoked far from regularly for the next half a decade. Between 2006 and this very year I can honestly say that I went maybe only a handful of days (between 5 and 10) without smoking in a 5-6 year period. Recently, as most of the regulars around here know, I moved to California. Since then, I have continued to smoke but have gone days without smoking without any consequence.... until yesterday.
Yesterday whilst having a small argument with my father about my future, I began to 'see' for lack of a better word blind spots, and an aura overtaking my vision. Having suffered from migraines at a quite frequent rate years ago, I immediately knew what it was. I had often told my friends stories about how once I started smoking daily in 2006 my migraines disappeared.... I literally had maybe one in 5+ years compared to several attacks per month in my final year of high school. I always knew there was a correlation between smoking weed and my lack of migraines but in the back of my mind, I always thought that perhaps I was just being a little bit too pro-marijuana minded and that there may have been other factors which contributed to my decrease in migraine activity.
Yesterday proved me right in many ways however in that I believe it to be no coincidence that a migraine occured once I began smoking much less. I can go as far as to say that migraines were a PREDOMINANT fear of mine when deciding to cut back back from weed. I just never really believed that I would be proven right. Finally, in addition to feeling as though weed has helped in preventing migraines from even taking place in the first place, once the aura began, I immediately rolled up a joint which helped me throughout the very painful process. All in all, I can say marijuana has definitely helped me medically in addition to all of its other benefits. I have yet to get my medical card because I have sort of got a hookup here through my father... but eventually when I do get one, and I am leaning towards getting one, I will be able to walk into any dispensary and mention my migraines as a cause for my presence... and I will be able to do it with a straight face.
This begs the question; does anyone else out there feel as though marijuana truly is a medicine? If so, how has it helped you?
For anyone curious as to what happens to me when I see these blind spots/aura prior to a migraine, here are two videos which demonstrate what I go through pretty accurately.
This one is amazingly similar to what I see... it just lasts about 30-40 minutes and not 1.
The shape of the lines in this one are more accurate (jagged lines as opposed to smooth ones, although sometimes they are smooth)

Marijuana: A True Medication
I saw on TV today, this man lost his son, his son died...
So he had him cremated, took his ashes, and then made it into a Diamond ring...
Now he watches his son shine every day.
I just thought about that, while I sit here ashing in this ashtray...

Well Chris I wish I could give the reply this post deserves, but without a CPU ill have to make it short. I think marijuana can be considered a Med. I drink more than most, and nothing fires my hangover better than a couple puffs off the pipe. Obviously this is self inflicted pain I bring among myself, but I imagine some people feel like that all the time without drinking (nauseated, in pain, headaches, etc.). If they feel like that because of an underlying symptom and if it cures my self induced symptoms than I imagine marijuana could and can be considered therapeutic. Likewise, my sister gets migraines and she cannot stomach the percocet the doctors give her. I finally convinced her to take a hit the last time she had one and sh said it really helped with the pain. She is anti marijuana in almost every regard, but if she has a migraine guess where she turns.
I guess some people smoke that don't really need to smoke for any reason, but I see nothing wrong with this as long as they do not base their lives around marijuana. Take care of what needs to be taken care of in the day before you light up and if you can handle daily obligations with success while smoking in your offtime than I don't see an issue. If however you can't get through your day without getting high than there is a problem, same holds for any substance.

The only legit medicinal reason that I've smoked weed for is headaches.. I don't have any medicinal reason to smoke it other than that. Most of the time I just smoke because I'm bored or feeling anxious, which results from not smoking... one of my cousins also takes it for headaches... I've heard that if u put weed in a container of alcohol it makes some sort of medicinal rub.
