huge earthquake in NZ with 65 confirmed dead, but the deathtoll is expected to rise. most unfortunate this, hopefully there wont be any large aftershocks.

they have been fucked for a few months now...firstly a major tremor in october (perhaps?) and then a series of aftershocks...its two tectonic plates, one of which moves, apparently, 35mm per year, underneath the other, which is responsible for these problems...still, at least no volcanoes have gone berserk...yet...in the region.

my cousin is in NZ, hes currently about to leave after this earthquake, apparently there is still a bunch of aftershocks going on.

i have a lot of family in the south island of NZ so my parents were pretty shaken by the whole thing...
confirmed 135 dead and expected another 200 or so...

most of the buildings in the CBD will be demolished and rebuilt.

i have said it before... if you build a city on natures unpredictability then youre asking for trouble

yeah mate it does....
they sit on a couple of plates that shift 35mm each year

they are prone to volcanic eruptions and earthquakes a la japan
