^Damn right!!!
And "self aware" I think means...aware of yourself...
Like a lighter can't think "I am a lighter" but a human can think "I am a human, I will do this" but an animal can't think "I am an animal" etc....Maybe dolphins or a few other animals can http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lfrCS5mOJU , but they are in no way as intelligent as humans.
And "self aware" I think means...aware of yourself...

I find the greatest value, in terms of humanity, in the creatures who show more than a hint of INDIVIDUALITY of thought and expression. I mean...people who are controlled and manipulated by solely themselves...and they do exist...few and far between...in strangely large numbers, only in Brighton, England, from my experience. but yes...they exist and persist, beating their fierce oars against the spastic tide////Morons accept what they are told without question, and fuck them, they can die a hopefully quick death, if they are warm in heart, and weak in mind and spirit.

well, abby...without me sending you scurrying for virtual cover, i will thank you for what i see as a definite compliment, and add that...unlike many, i find you constantly a character completely lacking fear of showing herself as herself. which is rare and valuable in these grim and treacherous times...

Re: Reasons to press the red buttons
people that live as their authentic selves are the only people really worth the time and effort of building relationships of any sort with.
i feel pity for those that a truly confused who they REALLY are, and disdain for those that actively hide themselves from their self and others.
but that doesnt mean i dont know the fear that compels humans to conform and hide their authentic selves.
i used to "blame" the media and society for making people delude who they are, but im coming to believe it goes deeper than that. the probability that this tendency to conform was crucial to our evolution and development as animals seems very real. which leads to another theory...
i think our society is due for a massive paradigm shift and this is because of an evolution of our minds. we are, as a species, finally freeing our selves from our biological stock responses. truly making the leap to logical self aware animals.
im really burned out from a long day of toking

Re: Reasons to press the red buttons
I cannot speak for other dogs, but i ca ncertainly speak for Oscar...I have videos of him as a puppy, and throughout his life so far. Whenever he hears a dog barking, even at quite a fair distance, he reacts, either by prowling around, grumble growling, or by barking fiercely whilst standing very upright, chest puffed out, tail high and proud...he reacts similarly, when he hears dogs barking or growling, on a film playing on my computer. But whenever i play video of him barking and growling, from when he was very young, to even recently, he has zero reaction. If anything, there seems to be something aloof in reaction, almost embarassment out how he sounded as a tiny gremlin puppy small enough to hold in one hand. He recognizes his own voice. he is aware of self.
I was just playing a few youtube clips to see how he racts to wolves howling...and rather than react with aggression, he looked worried. amazing instincts many of the non human animals possess///

well, after re-reading my own words, whilst his instincts do amaze me, he is awfully mistaken to find fear in baby wolves howling, when he sees nothing wrong whatsoever with straining at the leash, barking wildly and savagely, as we pass a 10ft tall great dane on the street....that could eat us both in one bite.

Re: Reasons to press the red buttons
I would disagree to an extent: humans are far too egotistical and act in their own self interests most of the time which is pretty sad. Maybe individuality isn't a good thing. There's something beautiful about the way an ant fights to preserve the colony, its family, rather than its own individual self. Maybe individuality is a false virtue that our inflated, selfish ego's have conjured upweedguru_animal wrote:I find the greatest value, in terms of humanity, in the creatures who show more than a hint of INDIVIDUALITY of thought and expression. I personally recommend checking oneself for OCD at least once every 5 minutes.

hohohohohoho! the words ofmine you quoted ikku, seem like the rantings of a man completely delirious, and spouting nonsense...in my less than drenched with spirits head, I have no desire to see anyone with a warm in heart die a quick death....unless that is what they seek.
