You mean 'Ik spreek Nederlands' :)

Yes Abby, but they are in Canada so they should either speak English or French (if they'rein Quebec) any person outside his or her own country ought to make the effort to learn the national language(s)...
Computer games don't affect kids. I mean, if Pac-Man had affected us as kids, we would all be running around darkened rooms, munching magic pills, and listening to repetitive electronic music.

they do speak english. and are trying hard to get even better at it.
but that doesnt mean they should stop speaking Cantonese when they are at home. its their birth language and a part of them.
i hate it when people dont respect other cultures.

My point came from talking about china being a superpower.

So it would only be useful to learn Chinese if you were actually planning on going there and working/staying there, or if you work for a firm that has close relations with China.

But if we're talking about immigrants moving outside of China then they should learn the national language of whatever country they migrate to.

So my point was : Even though China might have a vast population, there is only one nation that speaks chinese so learning the language is pretty redundant if you don't plan on living there.

Didn't have anything to do with Chinese people not being allowed to speak their mother tongue when they are amongst themselves/countrymen.
