I read an article in my paper today about the oil that has been continually spilling into the waters in Nigera for several DECADES.
In fact, more oil is spilled from the delta's network of terminals, pipes, pumping stations and oil platforms every year than has been lost in the Gulf of Mexico,
"We are faced with incessant oil spills from rusty pipes, some of which are 40 years old," said Bonny Otavie, a Bayelsa MP.
This point was backed by Williams Mkpa, a community leader in Ibeno: "Oil companies do not value our life; they want us to all die. In the past two years, we have experienced 10 oil spills and fishermen can no longer sustain their families. It is not tolerable."
It's quite an eye opener, if you ask me. And if you ask me, this planet is fucked.
i remember seeing something about this... i think it was about the devastation that Shell was causing through old infrastructure...and GAP/ Levi's..... their dye was poisoning the water systems...
Oh well in 50 years there's no more oil on earth, so these bitch leaders better start preparing our wind and solar power. Studies say we could start drawing power from solar space panels as early as 2016.
I guess saying it won't be needed at all in 50 years would be probably wrong, but think about it. With our technology increasing more and more and with us learning newer/better alternatives to oil, it seems like it's just going to be something that gets faded away. There are many better ways to convert things to energy besides just oil. Right now it's used as the top of the line because EVERYTHING RUNS ON IT... but what is going to happen when hydrogen type products start coming for a rise? We'll slowly adapt over to newer ways as long as it's made popular, everyone will follow. With that happening, oil companies won't be making as much because there isn't as much demand and they lower prices. Everything that converts hydrogen right now is just extremely expensive, to the point where the popularity can't be ensued yet. Once prices lower and different items start coming out with 3rd party hydrogen converters (like they have for cars already) then the popularity will rise, companies will slowly start MAKING their items to have a built in converter.
As far as the politics go in the situation.. America doesn't want the middle east to make much money, or to be controlling us for that matter, we are threatened from their mass amounts of oil and political control they can gain, so America is going to want to break out of the chain and stop doing business with them once something very bad happens between us two. Someone is going to try to make a change, and in due time, it will be followed.

I think the US and maybe British govts are ahead of us in technology by about 25 years. They already have ways to make free energy without the need for any kind of oil. And there's a reason for anything being a big headline in the news. It's all a big fucking web of bee ess.
America is thé most addicted to oil, I'll bet money on the fact that there are viable alternative sources of power out there but they're being suppressed because right now Oil is making the rich folks richer...
Money is what has to go, only then can we start living the way we should live.
