branching in relation to sex

Post by enterthebear »

two and a half months ago I took a number of clones from the first weed plant I've grown the mother a bubblegum was a month into bud cycle when I did it. one of the clones I planted outside and it took a long time to go from budding to it's veg stage, now it's about two feet tall and looks nothing at all like it's mother. the mother branched with two branches growing from opposite sides alternating 90 degrees all the way to the cola, but the clone has no symmetry it branches off one at a time in any direction there was also a difference in leaf size. my buddy just told me that weed plants that grow in the symmetrical manner are male and that weed plants that grow in the other unsymmetrical fashion are female true or not

also the mother was trimmed (too early) and in some of the bottom nugs I found the beginings of seeds? could the clone i took have been fertalized and now be a cross (I found a male in my room a plant a buddy gave me) between the male and my bubblegum

firstly... taking a cutting while the plant is in bud is never a good idea unless you can really help it. Although that would also depend on what you mean by bud cycle. Unless a plant is showing pre-flowers then the flowering has not begun yet. Plants take time to mature, so putting them on 12/12 doesn't automatically mean they will begin flowering. Some plants will continue veg'ing for 1 or 2 weeks whilst in 12/12, this is known as a force flower. So if the plant takes 2 weeks in 12/12 to pre-flower, those 2 weeks do not count towards the flower time.

In regards to your second question about the different growth patterns. When you took the cutting it would have needed to re-veg and this causes some stress to the plant which will also result in strange growth for a while, while the plant re-veg's. May even grow single blade leaves for a while but will then grow leaves normally again. Also, immature (veg'ing) plants will grow with branches coming out adjacent to each other, as the plant reaches sexual maturity those branches will start to alternate. A cutting is the same age as the plant it came from, so would already be sexually mature.

Not.

clones will have the exact same genetics as the plant you cut them from, even if that plant is seeded.

about 3 years of the forum where deleted in a freak accident, not trying to be rude or anything but he probably found his answer back then.

The old hosts went AWAL on us and the most recent backup the admin had was corrupted so we wound up with a 2.5 year old backup....member accounts during that time were messed up to...we have members who lost several thousand posts and those who signed up since the backup date lost their accounts entirely
