Re: Buying a desktop, need advice...
im not bothering with norton...will sell it on ebay instead...and use avast in conjunction with commodo firewall....that has been a fine combination in the past, so why change eh???
The thing I am noticing most joyfully is how madly quickly it plays with downloads...what would come at a high speed on xp, on my old system, not seems to arrive at ridiculous speeds such as 1mb/sec....is this windows 7 and a decent system????

Re: Buying a desktop, need advice...
A small shop peopled by The Enemy, the chinese, in a place called...ummm...somewhere near the chadstone shopping centre. I have a 2 year warranty on all hardware. And this beast flies, faster than anything I have ever played with. I am now considering partitioning the hard drive to install ubuntu 9.10....just to to see how the linux option compares, as even on my old craptop, crying still now, by my TV, gathering dust and torment, ubuntu seemed far nicer to play with. And on this machine, it will likely seem even more special.

I'm more of a mint fan myself.
Also I'd never go store built, even being not that overpriced (which it isn't, I must say) a friend of mine recently put together an i7 system, 1TB, 4 Gb DDR3, runs an 860 at 2.8Ghz, 8 threads. He's getting a 4890 for it too, which will bring his total cost just over what you paid.

Liles, i am shockingly lacking dexterity. Whilst I am world class at badminton, and also able to survive at high speed on various sports bikes, in all weather, when it comes to intricacy, my hands cannot be trusted anywhere other than between a woman's legs...

Computer games don't affect kids. I mean, if Pac-Man had affected us as kids, we would all be running around darkened rooms, munching magic pills, and listening to repetitive electronic music.

the 3.0ghz duo core and 4gb ram...seems to deal extremely easily with everything i throw at it. This system is by far the most speedy I have used. Also the 22 inch wide screen HD is perfect for films...
