making a webcam image brighter...

As I am getting into the skype routine, making contact with my homeland far easier and more lively, for they can see my mocking grin when i type insults and childish bravado...i am wanting now to work out if there is a program or a setting on windows xp, which i can use to make the image brighter...for i always appear a shadowy figure, which is kinda cool, but only if i am in a graphic novel, not a video call...so, are there any tricks to the trade, other than placing a stronger light source beside or next to me???

Don't know if there is a way to do it thru the cam but maybe you can try and up the lighting in the room your in. Add a lamp or something

Hm that's weird..I used a logitech webcam and it has an option to brighten or darken the picture. Sorry I don't know much about computers or webcams. Best bet would be to set up some more lights around you.

maybe put a lamp behind your webcam so the light catches your face thus making you appear brighter ?

there should be settings in your control panel for changing the brightness of your webcam

But a lamp works fine too, and will require less meddling with the controls.-->no camera fuckups.

There should be options in the chat program you are using... you should be able to change brightness, contrast, etc...

I will peek into the skype options, next time I am on there...but to be fair, this laptop is fucked...as it seems unwilling to fully recover from its recent drenching with lemon barley...but thanks, people, for the advice.

you could purchase a cheap external webcam.... or is that what you are using?
