For the US I'd have to say probably 12-15 years or so? Or at least until we get a good president and government.

I hope it never gets legalized really in the US...
A few reasons...
1)If it was legal here major companies would start producing weed, overcharging it, using shitty weed, and they would put something harmful in it like cigarettes [most likely Nicotine or other chemicals]
2)It's just as easy to get right now
3)There would be less to go around...

*bangs head against wall*
Weed smokers who don't smoke cigarettes always seem so clueless. Nicotine is not some harmful additive they put in cigarettes to make them addictive, it's a natural occurring chemical in tobacco. It's the drug, it's the stimulant, it's the only reason people smoke tobacco! They will not put that in weed, jeez.

Oh, and lol at your other two points.
I personally recommend checking oneself for OCD at least once every 5 minutes.

I'll counter all these cuz I'm bored :-P

1. they don't add anything extra in tobacco, it's all natural and it would also be cheaper because the stores would have to beat the dealers prices somewhat and the dealers would end up having to compete with the stores prices so it will lower drastically.
2. It'll be easier to get now and no one will ever go dry (plus it will be higher quality if made it a headshop)
3. There would be even more because there would be both dealers AND stores that would sell it.

agreed. if it was legal everyone would be able to sell it. so, in order to gain market share somebodies bound to undercut and undersell the controlling companies so you get cheaper weed.

I doubt the U.S. will ever legalize it. We depend on our shitty economy. The government would give a bullshit excuse like "everyone will be too high and never work."

"everyone will be too drunk and never work"

doesnt really work, eventually the US may again give us freedom, but its unlikely. i want to see some crazy democrat put in place a system, a democracy if you will, where every citizen's voice is heard, and everything is approved by the population, not just politicians. is this like an original idea? surely it must be if only canada is like that!

canada its basically already legal. i want the US to at least decriminalize.

ya see, what ya got to do there is run for things yourself... there would be no point in waiting untill someone well ranked in the government decides to try pot and like it.

most countries governments wont legalize simply because it is too hard to monopolize and therefore tax...
its already sold by so many people that if it were to be introduced as a legal trade, it would be at an
excruciatingly high price because of taxes/gst etc... therefore people would continue to buy from
their dealers at a cheaper rate....

my two cents

i think they could regulate it easily, once the large tobacco companys get a hold of marijuana, they will be able to produce it so cheap. that small dealers would just be out, and the government would make so much money off of the companys they wouldnt even care about the little guy selling a ounce here or there
