this is my first post here, though Ive been reading a lot. And finally I felt like I had something to contribute.

See, Ive been the other part of your problem. The lesbian best friend.
Let me just say, it was the worst and the best year of my life. I was so absorbed by her, she was all I lived for. I nearly took my life when she kept picking her new boyfriend over me. And the times I had with her, made it all worth it... yeah I was (am) a little emo kid. depressions, self injury, blah blah, my point being... If she fancies you so much that she bothered to tell you, you should try to be very gentle with her feelings.

Let her know you love her like a friend.. dont keep distance from her. BUT, yeah theres always a but.
Dont get drunk and physical with her. I slept with my friend on 1st night of xmas. I finally thought, maybe something more between us.. but no.

On new years eve, she had found herself a boyfriend.. after im sure we messed around at least 3 times from the start of school to xmas...

thank god its all over. We're the bestest of friends now, and Ive been seeing my girlfriend for over a year.
Im sorry, this was meant to be a solution to your problem, not my god damn life story. To the point,

Stay close to her, and keep being her best friend
but stay sure you dont lead her into thinking you want anything more..
Her crush will hopefully vanish. Try help her find a girlfriend?

Things will probably be a bit awkward between you until she's gotten over her feelings for you. But if you are as good friends as you say, You should be that patient with her.
