Nina Simone and Hip Hop

Post by (weedguru)scarf »

i was introduced to Nina Simone not long ago
and have soon come to realise here influence in hip hop
... she was a stong political activist most of her life (1933-2003)
and many artists either mention her in lyrics or sample her music
... the start of talib kweli's "get by" is from one of the last parts of sinnerman..... timbalands intro track is almost a direct use of sinnermans beat and hook.... i just downloaded a mixtape in which young gifted and black is remade by GIST....

i plan to read some more books on her... and finding out more about this, at times, incredibly volatile woman.

"You can see colors through music... Anything human can be felt through music, which means there is no limit to the creating that can be done... it's infinite."

just thought id share :D :D :D :D
