Ever lost a pet?

Post by sickkid90 »

I recently lost my pet bird, it was a parakeet...died maybe of old age...maybe didn't have enough food or water... it was 9 years old.. but the fact of the matter is that it's very saddening because I never paid A LOT of attention to her...sometimes I would for like a couple days, i would always play with her then i wouldn't for a long time... and i really regret not having played with her enough......althought we really had some good memories....

aw fuck ok bye

;(

Yeah my dog Tucker, A black Cocker Spaniel. I think he was somewhere around 14-15 years old and when he did start to get old he got really mean =/ but then started to go blind, and couldn't hear very well and that's when I lost a lot of appeal to him and started paying less & less attention to him. Then I remember that day when I saw him in the hall just laying there I was like mhm I'll leave him alone hes sleeping and went to a friends house. Then an hour later my mom called saying he was dead. I felt like complete shit and I still do because of the fact I could have still payed a lot more attention to him.. It just sucks because he was like the same age as me so I grew up with him my whole life and he was a really close family pet and we had him cremated and put in a granite urn. It still is sad to this day..

I know exactly how you feel. My dog of 12 years, Snowball, had to be put to sleep last year. I didnt even get to see him before his last days because I was away at college. When my mom told me I felt like a member of my family had died and was depressed for a few weeks b/c my dog was like my best friend. Feel better tho man.

I remember my one cat that I had since I was born was in my room and i was petting her as she was dying and finally passed away while i stopped petting her. It sucks that pets only last 10-20 years at the most and when you're really attached to them they start to get really old. We also had a cat that was permanently sick that we found on our front porch step and 2 years ago we had to put her to sleep because we didn't want him to be miserable from being sick so much.

are you gonna plan on getting another bird or pet or no?

i feel like shit because it was probably because of my irresponsibility..... and that she could have lived maybe 3-4 more years and its pretty much my fault.... just cuz a stupid little mistake you know? im feeling like complete shit right now.... we buried her in the back yard in a little metal box, didnt wanna just throw her away or bury her somewhere not close to home.... gonna prolly regret it for the rest of my life cuz i coulda changed it but didnt think about it....

Well I remember this stray cat that was injured and we fed it blah blah and ended up staying with us (outside cat). So it had a litter of kittens.. gave them away.. had another.. gave them away had another litter of 2 then we kept them. I think it was the attention to the 2 cats that drove GiGi the stray away. So we kept the two and THEY had a litter of kittens and gave them away, so we got them neutered and voila' no more litters :) But I forgot to mention that every litter down from GiGi to the cats we kept were hemingways which meant they had 6-7 toes on each paw. But recently my cat Roxy the female was hit by a car right at my bus stop for school =/

would it be a selfish act to not put an animal down just because of the pain you know you would feel after they were put down? I dont see how i could ever agree to having my dog put down for something... i would probably go crazy I think because i've had him since i was 6. maybe i would in that situation.. hopfully it want happen... im gonna go to sleep and prolly think about my poor bird... mom says we can buy a (some) new one(s) once i get back from my trip to Europe... if I do im naming it the same as the one that recently died (Fuji was her name btw) but ill still never forget her

Getting new pets is the best way to cope with your feelings right now just due to the fact that you have another to make you happy.

I don't like getting a new pet right after one dies, it's makes it too obvious that it's just a replacement. And I could never use the same name for a new pet, that would be too hard.

I had to have one of my dogs put down last year, I had 2 dogs that I grew up with and just have 1 now. I was in the room when they put her down, it was so painful to watch. It was also painful to go home and throw away her food dish and blanket and all her other things.

i could never do that either.

i had 4 pet mice (called chocolate, fudge, patch and smudge) and when they died we had a lil thing for them as they were my first ever pets, 1 of them made it to 2 years, well over its life expectency.
I took an I.Q test the other day and the results were negative!
