im telling you, you need a blowtorch, thats the smallest "appliance" hot enough to melt glass, and the test tube will prolly be treated, like that other guy said, so it will be harder to melt than normal glass, but if you are going to melt the glass, then you might as well make a bowl for it with a sheet of glass. just heat it up, the nuse tongs or somthing to wrap it around a wooden cone thats been soaking in water for like a half hour, to get a piece of class kindof haped like a "C". then when it cools, take it off the cone, and heat a part in your glass "C", then heat the two ends of the "c", then simply bent the two ends together to give you a cone of glass, hopfully with a hole at the bottom, then just melt the end of your test tube, and cut off the end piece in a shape that will fit the cone. then, put a hole into your cone, and melt it to the test tube.
viola!! there is a amature glass pipe!!.
putting a hole in test tube??

we asked our chem teacher about melting glass, and she pretty much told us just to steal one of her bunsen burners
so we did, along with a nice florence flask and several different sizes of test tubes.
next time my parents leave its bong makiing time
so basically I'm pretty sure a bunsen burner can do the job, any teacher can buy them out of the teacher catalog for 15 bucks if you can convince them its for science
