is there an age minimum to go the the cafe's where they sell weed and such? me and my bro are going to europe this sumer, im 16, hes 19 (will be 20 while on the trip)... so ya.. i wanna know if there is an age minimum?

and have you guys been there?

Shops are minimum 18.

Do remember that Amsterdam is 'Tourist Central' especially when it comes to Cannabis, so the prices will be way higher there.

my tips:
- Stay in a hotel/hostel outside amsterdam, and maybe buy your weed there aswell. That should save you quite a bit, and allows you to spend more on weed
-Go to amsterdam for a day to walk around and see it, and maybe buy a gram or two of the strongest stuff you can find, just to try it out. Remember, max amount is 5 grams (on you), and although it isn't very likely for you to get caught, just stick to the limit. If you get caught with more, you'll probably get a fine, so that's more money lost.
- Make sure they won't find out that your brother is giving it to you. Don't stand outside the coffeeshop waiting. They'll call the cops if they think he's giving it to you, as otherwise they'll lose their license and get shut down.

I always try to make people smoke weed in the Netherlands responsibly, as when something bad happens, we're at risk. Recently a girl jumped off a bridge whilst on shrooms, and killed herself. The parents tried to sue the dutch government for allowing it to be legal, and it sparked debates about the legality of shrooms. They could have been banned, but luckily they weren't (afaik). If you commit a weed-related crime, you're just another number for the anti-weed people to use, so try to be responsible

edit: I haven't been to amsterdam for weed, last time I went I was underage and not into weed. I live in the Netherlands though, so it should be somewhat accurate

im going in january next year while travelling with three other mates...
i havent really started any research on good areas to go in amsterdam.
i have a dutch friend who was back a few years ago so i will speak to him
but i am curious as to the Dutch citizens regard for tourists, Australians, Americans etc
Are they likely to rip you off? Are they friendly?
Keep in mind that the four of us are NOT loud mouth crazy college students...

I've been to lots of places in holland, lots of different shops.

Amsterdam is, and always will be, for the logical reason of tourism and capitalism, the most expensive city to buy weed.


Never, ever buy weed from people in the street though, they're a guaranteed rip off.

Hi there all , Thought Id clear a few things up for you, Im FaTe I live IN the Netherlands, Amsterdam as previously said is 18 to enter any of the MANY MANY MANY coffee shops within Amsterdam, BUT....

Think of it like this, Emagine your country grew weed...legally and such..And you had a tourist capital where everyone went within your country, The same as the Netherlands does..thats where all the cr*p weed ends up that everyone else IN the country does`nt want.

Its the most plain and simply truth, If you want a decent smoke and dont wished to be squished to death by the other millions of vistitors I would suggest doing the Amsterdam central for simply getting aquiainted, But if you can travel...DO leave the inner city, move your way out and you`ll find that weed quality alike gets better the more you do.

At the end of the day you`s can do what you wish, but I would`nt want to waste the trip money as Im sure you`s wont either

but either way, amsterdam is much better than where you live, if you aren't from Benelux anyway.

I'm Belgian, never really made the mistake of thinking about Amsterdam like it was the 'weed capital of the world', I just went there once, then saw what rip off prices they had there and decided never to go back


Tilburg, Bergen op zoom,Roosendaal, Eindhoven,Rotterdam... anywhere but Amsterdam's where you'll find great pot!
