That's why you buy a warranty so that they replace them for free. I have had a Dell 8300 since the beginning of 2001 and it's still a perfect computer for me. It's starting to get out dated so I'm getting a new Dell Laptop because I don't know anyone around me that had a Dell completely fuck up for them and even if it did, they would have a 2 year warranty on all the parts for it. I'm getting a Dell Inspiron Laptop for $1,400 with these specs.

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7200 (2.00GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667 MHz FSB)
FREE Upgrade to Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium with 1GB of
17 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife™
100GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive
256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GS
Integrated Audio

Those are really good for only $1,400-$1,500. The ones on iBuyPower had gaming computers that were worse than that for $1,600. I just fully customized my Dell to fit the way I'm going to use it. School/gaming

I wouldn't use an Intel processor just because with my experience, they tend to heat up. The new (or I guess not so new anymore) AMD Turion 64 bit processors a really good. I like AMD for almost any computer except, the MacBook/MacBook PRO which happen to be the most brilliant things I've seen on the computer market...
In short, I'd get a laptop with at least 100 GB of hard drive space, 1 GB of RAM, an AMD Turion 64 bit processor, and DVD/CD writeable drive...Otherwise, I'd go for the MacBook Pro if you got the money.

about two weeks ago i bought myself a new laptop

After a lot of research
(and i guess it depends on what you want the laptop for)

i decided on an Asus F3Jv
its fantastic.... amazing screen, runs cleanly... is lightweight despite the 15 truebrite screen

Asus are making themselves a name in the Laptop industry

i found that brands like sony dell hp mac- you pay a lot for having the brand alone before anything else...

for the same specs i was getting about 700-1000 dollars off for the Asus
and from everyone i spoke to they are highly reliable... same reliability as a Toshiba or a Mac
woah
