cleaning an acrylic bong.

Yeah so i have this plastic bong, it works wonders, but after a couple uses it smells like straight doo-doo. I contemplated putting it in the dishwasher, but I've heard bad things about that. I also heard ISO [alcohol] can crack plastic bongs or dis-color it. So basically i was wondering if there was a home-remedy to clean my bong, without having to go buy some weird ass bong cleaner from my local head shop, its a far ass-walk from here. Thanks.

washin up bowl, boil the kettle add the water and mix with washing up liquid, add your pipe and pieces. leave to soak for 10 mins, then pull it out n wipe it out, or what ever you use to clean it a rag? and it all slides off clean.
