Strange problem on new laptop...

Well I just purchased a laptop, a gateway. I got it yesterday, everything was goin great. Today however, i shut it off for a fewm inutes, and then turned it back on (thought i was gonna have it off for longer than I did). Upon rebooting, AIM, MSN messenger, McAfee Security Center, and an application associated with my video card all refused to load. I reinstalled AIM and MSN and that fixed that problem, i uninstalled my antivirus and installed a different one, and have yet to sort out the problem relating to the video card. (assuming i just have to reinstall the drivers). Anyway, based on the information given, anyone have any ideas as to what could have happened? thanks.

I'm not much of a computer guy but it sounds like it didn't log off properly and wasn't able to save the programs correctly.

If you got it yesterday, i assume you turned it off overnight, was there any problem in the morning?

Reboot, reinstall, restore, check control panels etc etc. If none of that works I don't know what else to say. The problems can range from so many things to another I'd have to personally take a look at your compy to figure out for sure what to do.

I'm so sick of Pc's though and their bullshit (stuck with them) so what I'd do is just trade the gateway in for a mac (save up $$ if i had to) and bootleg a copy of windows for dual-boot. But I doubt that's an option so..
