I modded a ripoff of this site. http://www.gaiaonline.com

^^over 5 million members there now. Really shitty site too. The whole point of the ripoff was to make a cooler site with all the games and less BS.

So I helped build it up from the ground (this was all a couple years ago) and everything was going good. Made it to about 500 members in a couple weeks, all was active and it consisted pretty much of nothing but quality posting.

Until one day, about 300 gaiaonline members registered all at once and spammed it for days straight. HOLY FUCK was I ever clicking the delete post, delete topic and ban buttons a lot!

Anyways, I vanquished all 300+ spammers and the site cooled off and lived on. Until a few months later the admin decided "fuck it" and took it offline.

The end.

Modding isnt everything you think it is. It's really, really hard and almost a worthless expension of energy unless you REALLY love the site. How many of you mod wannabees can say that you wont ever leave WG even if it does go straight to shit. I know for a fact from a 2005 incident that half of you who have been posting "i wish i was mod" should count yourselves out.

personally I love the idea of a volatile, hard nosed gang of crazies and goons adopting a no mercy policy, hellbent on culling all but the most benign of posters.
But that unfortunately doesn't agree with the weedguru tradition.

I am sure that I can continue to supply the necessary menace, while the rest of the mods can comport themselves with more dignity and wisdom thus setting a constructive example for the rest of our members. One impulsive knave is more than enough!
